If you have ever wondered what Mermaid life was really like, you can now journey under the sea into the everyday life of these enchanting creatures with this lavishly illustrated guide to Mermaid art, culture, fashion and magic.
In retrospect, it's pretty clear that a fairly consuming passion for words and pictures would lead Patricia Saxton to a living made in the arts. A highly respected graphic designer, illustrator, writer, and painter, she is also the author/illustrator of the children’s books A Book of Fairies, Book of Dragons and The Book of Mermaids, as well as the inspirational design book 52 Weeks of Peace.
Saxton is a member of Society of Illustrators, the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, the Children's Book Council, and the NJ Center for Visual Arts. She's a graduate of Wittenberg University, completed post-graduate work at the School of Visual Arts, consumes chocolate daily and considers being a mom her most precious job.
I adore this book! Now that we are beginning a library for our soon to be grand-daughter, this beautiful book, along with Patricia Saxton's A Book of Fairies, will be the first additions! The Book of Mermaids is artistically inspired and leaves me wanting more - the colors are brilliantly warm and the scenes are fanciful, capturing the secretive essence of how we imagine mermaids to be. How enticing to capture a rare glimpse into the magic of under the sea, leading us on a imaginative journey, companioned by wonderful illustrations. A must-have book!
