The subject of child molestation is tough. Kudos to the author for having the guts to write it.

Considering the h was so scared of the pedophile killing her family that she ran out of the city and never stayed in touch, she comes back after 10 years and doesn't say a word so the family can protect themselves from the pedophile is really unbelievable. Maybe not as a teenager but what about a year or two after she finds success as a lawyer?

The part about her assuming her son wrote the creepy I See You and going about obliviously considering she knows the pedophile hasn't left town is stupidity!

Daisy Buckhorn (who changed her name) is a runaway who has finally (they hope) been found by her family. Her brother sends his friend Like who just happens to be daisy former boyfriend to check it out. It also turns out she was pregnant when she left. When Like arrives at her San Francisco apartment, he discovers that it is indeed her and that there is another big surprise. There is a nother twist in the story, too.

A Cowgirl’s Secret by Laura Marie Altom is the story of Daisy who is pregnant and leaves her hometown and family. She becomes a successful attorney named Julie Smith who is raising her son on her own. Things dramatically change when Luke surfaces to bring her home and Julie (Daisy) is terrified her secrets will be revealed. This was a heartwarming story filled with drama and hidden secrets. The author did a good job creating and crafting the characters. I rated it a four.

Warning trigger: child sexual abuse. This was handled very well by the author. The main characters were interesting and the challenge to overcome the past and move into the now and the future made for an enjoyable read.

I was shocked at how this story turned out.

The characters felt cold and uncaring.

Fresh out of high school, Daisy Buckhorn disappeared without a trace and made a new life with her son as Julie Smith as a lawyer.

10 years later, high school sweetheart, Luke Montgomery is at her door. You can't imagine his surprise when he meets her son, Kolt, who is a splitting image of his father. Instantly Luke is boiling mad.

What nobody knows is Daisy left for her own safety 10 years ago. After daily molestations by the family friend farm hand, all Daisy could think of was making her escape the minute she could. Only later learning of her pregnancy. Then all she could think about was what if the baby was a girl? Soon time got away from her.

Although clearly struggling to tell him why she left, Luke has no sympathy at all. Only chewing her out left and right.

What's bad is, she's not trying to keep him from his son. Soon she's packing up and moving back in with her mom.

The move back home isn't smooth. Kolt has bouts of hatred towards her and Luke is as spiteful as ever.

She harps on and on about if only she could tell Luke what happened to her, yet when she actually does....well it comes out rushed and I just think she could have done it better.

Now that Luke knows, he lightens up on her right? Wrong. He turns if possible even colder. Now, it may be my female emotions coming out, but if that happened to me I would kick his a** for treating me the way he does Daisy. But Luke can't move on from her hiding his son. Not to mention his parents are against them getting together.

After a few tries, Luke makes it clear they can't even be friends. Often leaving her out of his plans with Kolt for the day.

Taking the first step of moving on, Daisy purchases a older house with lots of need of fixing up. Funny thing is, once Luke sees Daisy making a life for herself, he can't help but want to be apart of it.

It's truly not until her predator strikes, this time against Kolt that Luke realizes he has forgiven Daisy.

This book started out with such potential but then I'm not sure what happened. I was kind of confused by the ending.
I really felt for the heroine and her situation--and I admire the author for tackling such a subject. Unfortunately I felt the hero, Luke, wasn't very nice or sympathetic to Daisy, and I ended up not liking him and not wanting to see them get together.

Book had so much potential but I have no idea what happened here. Characters felt so cold, there was no romance, hero ...was no hero at all. I didn't want them to be together, I guess I just wanted the book to end asap.
