I enjoyed Murakami's descriptions of the characters and stream of consciousness writing but I felt like I wanted a bit more plot. Lots of things happened but the events seemed disconnected and were sometimes confusing.
I wanted to like this book. Wanted to see the magical significance. But couldn't. Didn't. I prefer historical fiction. Literary memoirs. Fusions of journalism and memoir. Literary non-fiction.
