With a scholar's mind and a pastor's heart, N. T. Wright guides us through the New Testament book of Luke, showing how we can particpate in Lukes story by making it real in our own world. Twenty-six sessions for group or personal study.
N. T. Wright is the former Bishop of Durham in the Church of England (2003-2010) and one of the world's leading Bible scholars. He is now serving as the chair of New Testament and Early Christianity at the School of Divinity at the University of St. Andrews. He has been featured on ABC News, Dateline NBC, The Colbert Report, and Fresh Air, and he has taught New Testament studies at Cambridge, McGill, and Oxford universities. Wright is the award-winning author of Surprised by Hope, Simply Christian, The Last Word, The Challenge of Jesus, The Meaning of Jesus (coauthored with Marcus Borg), as well as the much heralded series Christian Origins and the Question of God.
This book is a guided Bible study on the Gospel of Luke and offers questions that would be helpful for group discussions about the text. However, I had hoped for more in-depth instruction regarding Luke's Gospel. The author is highly regarded as a Bible scholar, so I expected greater insights from him in this book. I prefer to have more resources to work with in my Bible study rather than relying solely on my own opinions. Nevertheless, this book would still serve as a valuable guide for discussion. This book is a guided Bible study on the Gospel of Luke. a escrita simples e direta do autor e o seu baseamento sendo 100% a Bíblia, entrega tudo o que o título promete. me trouxe um entendimento muito mais profundo que me marcou demais. enxergar limpidamente o Jesus histórico de Lucas com o auxílio do Wright me deu anseio para estudar com mais seriedade todos os livros da Bíblia!
Good companion to the Luke for Everyone book/commentary. I used this in a Bible study with 3 guys and the guide provided some good, through-provoking questions that helped to guide our reading and conversation.
This is N.T. Wright's study guide for the Gospel of Luke. It proved helpful but sometimes some of the study questions would not necessarily lead you to the kind of deep understanding that you might get if you just read the gospel yourself. I obviously have mixed feelings about Wright's work, but ultimately I don't think you're losing out if you don't have this in your library.
