The late 1600s witch hysteria of Salem, Massachusetts has certainly left a stain on Salem. With its troubling history, the city is now marked with hauntings of the souls who were unjustly sentenced for witchcraft. The author provided a plethora of history about Salem's famed citizens, the poorly accused, and the residual hauntings.

Personally, I've been planning to visit Salem for the witchcraft community but I'm definitely going for its ghostly side!

The beginning was so interesting when she discussed the history of curses and the witch hysteria. Unfortunately once she started talking about the hauntings is where she lost me.

This book was a disappointing read. The first part was a bit interesting talking about different things like ghosts, energy, and curses to try and help explain why Salem would be haunted. It also gives a short history of the actual witchtrials. The second part was the ghost stories of haunted locations in and around Salem. The stories were not really different from other ghost stories with some of the usual activities like footsteps, phantom smells, and doors opening. The worse part really were the photographs of some of the places. Many of them had the fake, cheesy looking ghostly figure right in the middle distracting you from the photo.

In general it's a rather dry read. There are plenty of accounts of what people have experienced in Salem's many haunted places, but don't expect spooky tales that will keep you up at night. This book reads more like a historical tour guide, which any paranormal investigator will appreciate.
