Deb is a savvy entrepreneur who is taking the corporate world by storm but is enjoying her success without the comfort of her man. Tammy has everything she’s ever dreamed of, that is until she discovers she is not the only woman in her fiancée’s life. Lisa is a free spirit, who falls victim to a vicious attack by a scorned lover. Three very different women with one thing in common, their lives are filled with nothing but drama!
"Drama" focuses on the cohesiveness of three friends, Deb, Tammy and Lisa, who have shared experiences from childhood to adulthood as they try to meander through the complexities of their relationships and the drama that ensues. Sisterhood is the epitome of their cohesiveness.
I found "Drama" to be a menagerie of stereotypical characters, although their circumstances shed some light into issues such as date rape, bisexuality and single fathers. Unfortunately, as such, the author limited his characters' choices.
Also, the author exhibited a general lack of cultural sensitivity when he ascribed a new meaning to "AKA" while casting his characters in such low esteem and associating the motives of their sisterhood to be based on lustful pursuits of attractive black men with money or at least conspicuous consumers of such. For this trio, the height of vanity is the ultimate source of their pursuit of the perfect man and perfect relationship with lust as a guide. This theme has been played out. I didn't feel it was appropriate or neutral as conventionally "AKA" is associated most frequently with Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority incorporated, which is the first black sorority of women of color. It is not coincidental that the characters are referred to as a sisterhood but are cast in such a negative light. This is a slur on a historically black organization without justification.
While the storyline of "Drama" was interesting, the substance of the plot was trite.
OMG! Drama, drama, drama....I loved this book. The CEO has out done himself. Once I started reading, I couldn't put the book down until the end of the last chapter. I loved the characters and the drama of course. Downloading Part II now. I got to find out what happens next. This was definitely a page turning. I don't want to talk to much, because I don't want to give away any spoilers, but I will say Deb, I know you've had a bad time with men, but to switch teams, #NEVER, but to each it's own. So glad that Tammy found her a new man and peace in life. I'm so sorry about what happen to Lisa, but her spirit lives on in little Lisa. As for Shaun, well uh..ANYWAY! All I can say is drama, drama, and more drama! I give the CEO and his writing 5 stars. Job well done Mr. George Sherman Hudson. You've been added to my favorite authors list. I'm Team G Street for life!!!
I read Drama by George Sherman Hudson and I loved it. This book was great and very well written. The plot was very good and it kept me reading. I would highly recommend this book.
Urban reads like chick lit, which is one genre I do not really care for and the same with this book. It did not keep my interest. With the cover change, I hope the edits were also adjusted and revised. Telling the story, not really able to grasp or get into the story itself.
My owned copy in 2009, signed, will give as a donation.
This novel about three “ride or die” girlfriends starts out very gradually but isn’t boring. As the pace quickens, the intimacies and secrets of their individual lives begins to unfold into a believable story. Mr. Hudson provides us with in-depth background, and insight on each of the main characters. He leaves no grey areas. My initial expectation was that this would be another “poorly written” book about urban life. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of character description and plot development that he provided. Mr. Hudson was able to vividly verbalize the life of each character and how their daily existences were intertwined and bound by a sisterly love for each other.
DRAMA delves deep into the hurt, anxiety and disillusionment that women encounter in the pursuit of love. It candidly shows how easy we fall victim to the palavering of men with empty promises. It’s easy to see oneself in any of these characters because if you’re a woman living in America, more than likely, your love life contains some “DRAMA.”
In this story of three lifelong friends, the author spins a tale of relationship woes, career trials, and all of the struggles that go with being a young adult lady in an up and coming world...a world of drama, anyway. Lisa, Tammy, and Deb are ladies who are super committed to one another, women who are bonded far beyond mere friendship. As they face the trials of life, readers are able to join them in supporting one another.
There are few criticisms of this work. The story flows well and it is an easy read. Characters are interesting, relatable, and well developed. There are occasional errors in editing, but none that are distracting from the story.
George Sherman Hudson tells a poignant story of three women. 'Deb' a successful, saavy business woman that had bad luck when it comes to men. 'Tammy' a true diva engaged to be married to 'Shaun' who lived a double life. 'Lisa' who falls victim to a scorned lover and date rape. This book will keep you interested throughout, as it is a real page turner.
Drama is definitely a book well worth it's name. It most certainly will grab your attention. If you like your ladies fast, smooth, educated and independent then Drama is a must read. Excellent job on this book Author George Sherman Hudson. I will definitely recommend that you go get a copy today and see what this book holds for you.
Its a good read. I don't know, just reading it you would think it would've been a little bit more drama. At least when the two girls knew about each other, you would've thought they would be scrapping. But all and all, its a good read.
Wow! This book took me on an emotional roller coaster! I couldn't put this book down because I had to know what happened in the lives of these 3 very women. The twist and turns will have you screaming at times! This is must read.
