All of the text from this book can be found freely online (with a bit of searching). The value of this book is that a selection of these ancient texts are found in one single book. While we were waiting for Half Priced Books people to price some books we took to the store, I found this book (The Stoic's Bible) and a low-priced, great condition copy of Hadot's The Inner Citadel (which I gave to someone as a gift). I bought my copy of The Stoic's Bible in January 2024 and have been reading a few pages each day, and highlighting various parts which stood out to me. From Homer, to Hesiod to Heraclitus, to Democritis, to Socrates, Xenophone, Plato, Aristotle, to Epicurus to Seneca, Musonius, Plutarch, Epictetus, Marcus Aurelius to Macrobius and Boethius and many others. The author has selected various writings and sayings of many ancient authors, philosophers, historians and thinkers. If I were to be stuck on an island with only one book, this would would keep me occupied and satisfied for a very long time. Today, December 2, 2025, I turned the final page. It is a great book to have sitting on the coffee table, to be read, pondered and discussed.
