Simpsons Comics: Meltdown

Rate this book

Matt Groening, creator of "The Simpsons," serves up a high-octane collection of combustible tales. It's a red-alert laugh riot when all of Springfield moves in with Mr. Burns after a hazardous nuclear cloud engulfs the town. Then, fire up the grill as Krusty the Clown's famous franchise gets some not-so friendly competition from a new burger meister--Homer Simpson And when Springfield faces its worst financial crisis in history, Mayor Quimby sets off a firestorm of trouble by declaring that the town be open for business 24/7. Watch the pies fly after Marge hires Krusty the Clown as her new life coach. Finally, in an incendiary fable, Homer is appointed the new fire chief and literally decides to fight fire with fire. This volatile and explosive comic collection will ignite a wildfire of hysterics.*

This may have been one of the better Simpsons comic collections I have read.

The art was standard Simpsons art. The stories and the humour were great though. I definitely laughed out loud at much of this and enjoyed basically everything going on with this. Many of the stories were good enough to be episodes. Some of them did remind me a bit of existing episodes, but still enjoyable. 3000's Company, The Burger King of Comedy, and 24/7th Heaven were my personal favourites, but the others were good too.

If you're a Simpsons fan and looking for an enjoyable comic to read, this is definitely one worth giving a read. Expect a good time from this one.

There's really not a whole lot to say about the Simpsons comics. The art looks exactly the show art for the most part, and the stories are always a lot of fun. If you like the show, you'll probably like the comics. I will say the comics have in-jokes specifically for comic fans that the show obviously doesn't have, so the easter eggs are always a lot of fun. Still love the show after all these years.

For this one I'm going straight into the review, as there is too many stories to make a coherent summary of the book.

Review-
This is the second Simpsons Comics I've read, and I was more impressed with the last one. Meltdown had some interesting stories, but not interesting enough to keep me hooked throughout them all. I often found myself just mindlessly reading. The art however is just as good as the show's animation, which is a big plus. Other than that, I'd say that you could pick it up if you just want to have a quick read.

My brother and I used to get Simpson comic books all the time as a child. With every Simpson comic book I read, I will tell you this, because it's an integral part of my review. Nostalgia will always influence my response. The plots of these comics were fine, but nothing too entertaining. I'm fairly certain that they had already used some of the plot points before, which did detract from the reading. They were still fun and had the Simpson-spirit. Throughout the stories, there was only one cringe-worthy joke that made me laugh. I think that's the main issue. I wish it made me laugh more.

2,5*

I thought it was a good book because the first part when homer was beaten by bart was pretty funny and on page 102 when a baby 1 year old called maggie talks proper i was very confused and at the end of the book when homer fights a wolf for some pie was very funny

This book involved several different comical stories as it almost had different chapters within. I thought this book was OK as I am not a big fan of comic books. I thought I'd give it a try and see what it was like but I didn't like the short dialogue. That's why I only rated this book a 3 out of 5 stars and that was generous. I also found it just didn't make that much sense. I would not recommend this book to anyone who likes thick books like me.

This book was filled with the laugh-aloud material that will make your day positive. I got this from scholastic book orders. All of the stories were about get-rich-quick schemes.

Typical Simpsons humor. Fans of the Simpsons and comic fans in general will flock to this book, but there's nothing special here. C rating.

Comics read like episodes of the Simpsons, if you enjoy the show and like comic books...this is a natural go to.
