“People usually consider walking on water or in thin air a miracle. But I think the real miracle is not to walk either on water or in thin air, but to walk on earth. Every day we are engaged in a miracle which we don't even a blue sky, white clouds, green leaves, the black, curious eyes of a child—our own two eyes. All is a miracle.”― Thich Nhat Hanh•I remember the very first time I heard the word "Miracle" It was at my Christian Sunday school. The story was about a man who walked on water. Remember that he was so focused on what he was doing while the others panicked about him sinking and drowning? I guess you can say Jesus knew more about mindfulness more than the others...•I have had countless miracles in my life, and I have "walked on water" quite a few times. It was in the moments when I most believed that my miracles were birthed. You also experience miracles everyday of your life. You just have to be aware of them. For example, you wake up every day by a system that completely runs on its own. You breathe oxygen and release carbon-dioxide which interacts with the trees to produce more oxygen. You being alive is a miracle all by itself. And yes, everything isn't always sunny and bright, sh*tty things happen too, and life isn't fair. Sometimes we get thrown into circumstances to chaotic to bear. Most of these we overcome, though sometimes with scars to show. But when we focus on the things we're grateful for, it's amazing how we start to lose sight of the things we lack. **My mom used to tell me, "Don't leave for tomorrow what you can do today." "Don't ruin today by worrying about tomorrow". I may not have known the term mindfulness, but my mother taught me in her own way. She would say, "Be content with what you have." Oh, I heard that all the time. I learned from a young age to be appreciative and to be thankful for all I already had. All those are practices of mindfulness. It taught me to be kind and compassionate, and to be aware of other's and their needs. As we get older, we sometimes forget to continue the practice of mindfulness. The busyness of everyday life interferes, and peace goes out the window. But with practice we can come back to it. To our center, where all the miracles reside. *Make this journal your daily reminder to be mindful, to stay present and to preserve your sanity in an every-changing world. While you're at it, gift this journal series to your friends, family, co-workers & acquaintances. It'll be a lovely gesture but one that'll leave an impact in their lives.
