I give this book four stars in honor of great minds thinking alike. I wrote this book--or actually, one with the same title, on construction paper my mom had stapled together into a little book. I made dozens upon dozens of "books" this way, once upon a time.

I loved bugs as a child, so a variety of bug characters were the main focus of my stories and drawings. Meanwhile, my mother taught and participated in aerobics classes--so exercise was mentioned frequently in my work. "The Big Bug Book of Exercise" was a natural combination. Best of all, McKissack's version was published in 1987--roughly the time I would have been penning my own version of bug aerobics.

When I discovered this book at my library at age 30, I photographed the cover and immediately emailed it to my mom. Thank you, Big Bug Book of Exercise for bringing back memories in unexpected places.
