The Best of Japan is a good introductory text. I am planning my first-ever trip to Japan, and this book gave me an excellent overview of the cities/areas, which has helped me decide where I want to concentrate my time on this first visit. Being a "best of" guide, there is some depth of information missing in a few areas. However, those are things I can now check online, armed with a basic knowledge of what I would like to see and do. I plan to follow up this reading with a guide just for Tokyo, but this was a worthwhile book to skim through in the earliest planning stages. Recommended for first-time visitors looking to cover the basics fast.

V roce 2019 jeden z mála aktuálních českých průvodců po Japonsku. Nikdy bych nevěřila, jak je ta aktuálnost užitečná. Anglické verze jsou daleko širší, tady mi ale na tří týdenní pobyt stačilo. Ono stejně až tam člověk přijede, najednou se mu otevřou oči a chce vidět i něco jiného, než co říká průvodce. Třeba i to, co mu doporučí krajané v zahraničí a nebo lokální obyvatelé.
