Our planet has been invaded by Parasytes -- alien creatures that take over their hosts’ bodies and turn the victims into killing machines. So far, they’ve had the upper hand. Their ability to morph their appearance and blend in, combined with their super-human strength and regenerative powers make them nearly unstoppable. The Japanese government is now striking back. Shin, one of only two humans to co-exist with a Parasyte, has been recruited to join a military raid on the Parasytes’ stronghold. But he’s not the only civilian involved -- a serial killer who makes Hannibal Lecter look tame has been released from prison to join the assault. As the hunter becomes the hunted, the line between good and evil grows even more blurred

PARASTYE MANGA TÜM CİLTLER YORUM;

OKUYUN, OKUTUN.

Not: Bu manga toplamda 12 cilt olmasına rağmen, kendi öz dili hariç diğer tüm dillerde 10. ciltte son buluyor.

This is a review of the entire series.

Synopsis: They arrive in silence and darkness. They descend from the skies. They have a hunger for human flesh. They are everywhere. They are parasites, alien creatures who must invade and take control of a human host to survive. And once they have infected their victims, they can assume any deadly form they choose: monsters with giant teeth, winged demons, creatures with blades for hands. But most have chosen to conceal their lethal purpose behind ordinary human faces. So no one knows their secret - except an ordinary high school student. Shin is battling for control of his own body against an alien parasite, but can he find a way to warn humanity of the horrors to come?

Review: A very smoothly paced psychological thriller with creative action scenes, philosophical commentary and witty humor featuring body morphing parasites that use human body parts as hosts. The protagonist goes through some extreme character development at a rapid pace without feeling rushed, forcing himself to adjust from a once familiar world that now feels hostile and alien because of the parasite that has infiltrated his body and marked him as a target for bloodthirsty predators; both human and inhuman. Faced with impossible odds and countless moral dilemmas, Shin and his parasite Migi have no choice but to band together for the sake of their mutual survival. Seeing the extremes of every living creature and the cruelty that all species are capable of, you'll end the story with a few questions. "Who are the real monsters?" is just one of many.

It channels vibes from 1980's sci-fi horror flicks like John Carpenter's The Thing and even some of Junji Ito's bizarre and morbidly funny body horror. It's a great read for fans of retro horror that packs just the right amount of emotional and philosophical punches.

Old Woman (ch 59) was almost heartwarming.

Readiness (ch 60) felt kinda forced to me like why are they trying to cram in this one last character? Who's Mitsuyo's husband? I'm not sure I recognize him or if I even should. The only thing I could appreciate in this chapter was Shinji reaching some kind of understanding of the nature of animals including humans.

Grotesque (ch 61) and Morning (ch 62) were personally underwhelming. Into the Ordinary (ch 63) was bittersweet, and For You (ch 64) was much like ch 60 in that it seemed like it was trying so hard to cram in some more drama.

Anyway, I'm not too fond of the story, characters, or the art in Parasyte. Except for the clothes. But I really loved the theme! It's more or less aligned with what I believe in that we are all just trying to survive, and humans have faculties that are different from that of other organisms so it does not make sense to extend our standards to others. I also liked the whole individualism vs collectivism thing there was going on. I remember there was this theory that individual self-interest ultimately aligns with that of the collective??? Or maybe, I am forgetting. But I really loved that by the end, Shinji wasn't this noble hero fighting for humanity but his own survival just like Migi did in the beginning, and that Migi gave up his individuality despite his initial coldness because he finally understood what it meant to be human and he wanted Shinji to live as one.

This series became another one of my favorites! I’ve grown attached to Migi and he will always be a part of Shinichi. Shinichi has gone through great character development, especially with how his relationship with Migi went from being apprehensive to treating him as a close friend. It was amusing seeing them work well together to defeat their enemies.

The story has several pretty insightful monologues that make you think about humanity and how they treat the planet. I wished the author included more insight regarding the origins of the parasites but I didn’t dwell on that too much.

Artwork was very 90’s style but I liked how the anime looked more modernized.

I thought I'd be getting into a weird-ass horror manga filled with gore and alien bodies and spicing it up with some psychological elements. Instead it turned out to be far more of the latter than the former. The story had a lot to say about the human nature and our place in the world, and I guess it got me thinking too. A worthy read overall - perhaps more than I'd have expected it to be.

It's deja vu all over again in Volume 10.

Volume 9 ended with the death of Reiko Tamura, and we start here with several textless pages of Shin and policemen in the park, exchanging meaningful and enigmatic glances. Then its time for Shin to go back to high school, and for the police to enlist the aid of psycho-killer Urokami in detecting aliens.

There is an elaborate police sting at city hall that has already taken place many volumes back. (I get these from the library, so I don't have back issues handy for fact checking.) It could be with Tokyo Pop taking over publication of the series, they have established a different timeline. And Shin wows his track coach with his parasyte-assisted running abilities, something he has already done many volumes back.

I'm ready for this whole thing to be over.

For a manga this had one of the more profound and most thought provoking endings. Fantastic series. One of my favorite. It was the perfect blend of horror/satire.
