This is a good survey of animals (blue whale, African bush elephant, giraffe, cheetah, peregrine falcon. cosmopolitan jellyfish, box jellyfish, bee hummingbird, common swift, dung beetle, whale shark, reticulated python, saltwater crocodile, polar bear, ostrich, Galapagos giant tortoise) that readers may not know much about. The layout is exciting: text appears in small boxes and bubbles with major focus on the photos of the animals. Sometimes the graphics distort the pictures and make you think the elephant has polka dot toes before a second glance. The facts about the animals often relate to its size and makes comparisons with everyday objects like pencils and school buses. There's a quiz at the back that tests a reader's retention of the facts they've just read. Further information includes places to go (yay for the shout out to the Columbus Zoo!), a glossary, index, suggested books, and websites.
I'd recommend this title to fans of the Guinness and Riply's books.
