Rate this book
Hot on the heels of Real On the Grind comes the second installment in bestselling author Meesha Mink’s racy new series featuring more of her critically acclaimed trademarks—drama, scandal, sex, and street-smart sassiness.Following the breakout success of The Hoodwives Series, cowritten with De’nesha Diamond, Real Wifeys was a snappy, sexy page-turner that introduced readers to Goldie, a misguided young woman who becomes a modern-day madame. Get Money brings us Luscious Jordan, a minor character in Real Wifeys, who now takes center stage and whose strong will and ruthlessness surpass even Goldie’s.Goldie’s former business partner, rapper Make $, is serving hard time in prison for her brutal rape. His former wifey, Harriett “Luscious” Jordan, finds herself out in the cold as his family and friends close ranks to protect his money. A first-rate hustler, Luscious builds a successful business as a party promoter. Yet the force that truly drives her is a blind ambition to destroy Goldie, who had stolen Make $ from her.Now Luscious is tormented by her blazing desire for how far can she go in her bitter quest for revenge without destroying herself too? In this powerful cautionary tale about the dangers of hatred and vengeance, fans of street literature will get a bold dose of Mink’s authentic urban voice in a hood tale that reads with breathless passion.

This book was so good the drama and surprises was in abundance I couldn’t get enough of it. Luscious is hell bent on revenge and she isn’t stopping at nothing to get at her enemy, Goldie. Sometimes the enemy you don’t see coming is the deadly one. This is a good series and I can’t get enough.

No lesson's learned for this heroine. This is Luscious' story.
I struggled a little with this book. not because the characters were not interesting or that the story-line was not as strong as in book 1, but because of the amount of repetition, wordiness, incorrect word usage and details that added nothing to the story.
The supporting characters, while not developed, were the saving grace in this story. Make Money, Peaches, Eve & Michelle made the book interesting and gave it a little life. Also, the narrator was a bit more animated in this installment. And we all know a good narrator can help a story. All that being said, I loved the message of this book. the message of how obsessive behavior, jealousy, self-hate, lack of accountability takes so much energy out of you and in the end only hurts you. The self-hate that Luscious possessed was amplified when her boyfriend cheated with her friend. The author did a great job of showcasing her misery with the one-sided revenge plot. Her "arch nemesis" didn't give her a second thought, but did step in to save her twice when she was in need. It’s rare that I root for someone who is supposed to be the victim to meet their ruin. But that's how well the author wrote that character. It was interesting that there was no real hatred for the men who wronged her. It's indicative of real life. Men will often get a pass for their wrongs while women tear each other apart. ....umph

This was a pretty good, fun, fast read. Lots of (straight) sex that was at turns either really fun to read or very predictable. There is a trans-leaning character, which was a nice surprise, especially since the treatment wasn't super awful. Glad I read this because I enjoyed it.

This 2nd book was fire! Luscious was really on get revenge grind against Make$ and Goldie. I truly didn't see the ending happening like it did, but it was good. On to the next one in the series!

Title: Real Wifeys: Get Money
Author: Meesha Mink
Rating: 3
Headline: An Average “Hood” Story

‘Real Wifeys: Get Money’ by Meesha Mink is your typical hood story. The book tells the story of a drug dealer named Terrance who becomes a rapper and then goes by the name of Make$ who meets a stripper by the name of Luscious and, in typical fashion, makes her his “wifey.” Luscious, whose real name is Harriet, is a college dropout who falls deeply in love with Make$ and the lifestyle he provides for her.

Luscious walks in on Make$ engaging in a sex act with her friend and former boss, Goldie and at that moment she only has revenge on her mind. Luscious begins to build her own business as a party promoter after Make$ is incarcerated for the rape of Goldie because now she must have her own income. Rape and prison did not stop Luscious’ intent of payback as written: “Revenge was my motivation. Payback was my aphrodisiac.”

Meesha Mink could have written a more developed storyline to make this a more complete story. The back story between Harriet, her parents, and one of her neighbors could have been expanded and that would have led to a clearer understanding of her behavior. Also, the designer label name-dropping and the presence of a certain cop towards the end of ‘Real Wifeys: Get Money’ made me want to hurry up and get to the last page.

‘Real Wifeys: Get Money’ will be released on January 10, 2012.

I think this is the greatest book from the Real Wifey's series that I actually liked, Luscious aka Harriett , from the first picture I really did not think it was going to be this good, At times I felt like the story focused on Goldie too much I would have preferred to read more about Luscious & Make$.It was like every other chapter or sentence was about Goldie *** and the bitch was not even around***I felt so sorry for Luscious ; yeah I know she was going through alot and betrayed by Goldie & Make$ - I was happy when she got her revenge and fucked Haz he seemed honest and the type of guy that would be perfect for Luscious. My mouth dropped when it was revealed Make$ was a police informant and Luscious got caught up with his bullshit !!! what Officer Dick did to Luscious was just wrong and I couldn't believe it=[ I LOVED THE SHOWDOWN BETWEEEN GOLDIE & LUSCIOUS !!!!The only thing that I disliked about her was that she could't realize on her own that she was a beautiful black woman PERIOD. I hated that she compared herself time and time again to Goldie when she was even prettier than Goldie. Her heart was prettier than Goldie's. Meesha always brings an enjoyable read with hilarious moments and jaw dropping tid-bits too. I can't wait for the last installment to see how all of these women end up. Great Job with this one

Wow... Meesha Mink...I feel like I just got off a roller coaster. As with any thrilling ride... You have those moments that are exciting, then you have those moments that are breath taking and don't forget those moments that allow you to catch your breath and just about lose focus on the pending danger.... Well I must say this book had all three elements but heavy on the breath taking, suspenseful hold your breath and wait for it....outcome....

I loved Goldie from the first book, so I was not expecting to change my opinion on how I felt about what happened in Book 1.... Book 2, the reader is given some of the same facts, but through the eyes of Luscious..... And boy did things look a whole lot different coming from this chick's side of the fence....

I will admit, that Luscious did get on my nerves with the way she constantly whined about the past. She became so obsessed with executing Revenge on Goldie that she lost sight of things that were happening right in front of her. That being said, I think the author wanted to make sure the readers understood how obsessive compulsive her behavior developed based on REVENGE.....

On to Book 3!!!

This was getting soo good and then it ended. . .lol These group of women show how although you may have friends that you think are close, they can still be as shiesty as can be and still manage too smile in your face as if all is well. Goldie was a moneymaker, by any means necessary, I believe she would put her momma out on the stroll if she could make her some money. She doesn't let friendship or anything get in her way and Luscious learned that quick but the hard way, I agree with her friend who told her to be careful with the hole she was digging for Goldie, that she doesn't fall in by mistake, because that is just what almost happened but goldie managed to help her out a few times. All about that trifling ass cop! but he got his in the end.

This story was not unlike the first....Same story a few new characters added to the mix......Harriet "Luscious" Jordan and Terrance "Make$" Gardner was the living the GOOD LIFE....from RAGS TO RICHIES.....Make$ showers Luscious with the finer things in life. When Luscious is betrayed by the two people she cares for most, less just say..."Hell has no fury like a woman scorned"......So Lucious sets out to the destroy Kaeyla "Goldie" Dennis and in the process she almost destroy's herself.

Eventhough this series has not been a favorite for me, it's still a quick and entertaining read......

After being betrayed by her boss and good friend Goldie, Luscious felt like her world had been turned up side down and she would not be right until she got her revenge ON! Luscious was a good girl who wanted and thought that everybody in her world should be good, but nature plans for her life was everything but good a lot of times. I did enjoy this book; however I could only give it 3 stars because of Luscious continuous journey for revenge and her whining about it got on my LAST NERVE!

I love Meesha Mink books but this one just didn't do it for me. There were quite a few editing issues in this book that I could not overlook. I also felt that the drama and action really did not kick in until the end of the book. The main character was really all over the place and working my nerves. I will be reading the last book in the series to see how it all comes together and ends.

I really did enjoy reading this book. I think that the characters had great roles and I was able to picture the authors words clearly in my mind. Definitely ready to read some more books by Meesha Mink. :) I give it a generous rating of 5 stars because it kept my up nights reading more and more until I finally reached the end which was satisfying!

Luscious wasted alot of time and energy looking for payback on Goldie. Loved the way she handled Make$. He deserved everything that he got and then some. Dirty cop was a mess. He deserved what he got. Will look out for the third and final book in this series.

My shortest review ever: THIS IS TERRIBLE. There is nothing entertaining about the book, the characters are boring, the storyline redundant. Mink/Niobia Bryant (author) managed to produce 200+ pages of literary bullcrap.

This book was very well written. Friends have to go through obstacles to see if their bond is real and I feel like it taught me something and gave me advice on keeping my friends close but enemies closer.

This book was a page turner just like the first. I was excited to learn that there is a third book to this series. However, I don't think it will be as good as the first and the second. I'm still going to read it though.
