Paranormal/Supernatural

The Riley’s are the perfect example of the American family: a loving husband and wife and two small children. They head off to the beach for a vacation without a care in the world and the determination to make their time a special event. But for this family, everything is about to change when they visit a beach famous for ghostly activity.

Joan’s interest in the paranormal has been aroused by a book she is reading and as time progresses, she and her husband not only see the ghost of the woman who died over a 150 years ago, but seem to be seeing spirits everywhere. Are they in a ethereal hot spot, or is something else going on? What do these spirits want?

The longer Riley family stays, the deeper they are drawn into spirit world. As their health begins to fail, they make plans to leave, but something has them in their grasp; Time and events appear to be standing still. Can the Riley’s break free of the beach’s hold?

Endless Summer is a ghost story with a difference. It is a mystery story with a supernatural twist that will keep you wondering until the last page is turned.

Christopher David Petersen (1963 – 20??). Born and raised in Connecticut. As a child, I was always daring and reckless. Never one to let common sense stand in the way of a great adventure, my bold feats of stupidity were legendary… Huckleberry Finn would have been proud.

“Surprisingly”, that same spirit carried over into adulthood, as I sought out entertainment that included: scuba diving; ski Mountaineering; mountain biking; Rock, Ice and Mountain climbing; flying planes; golf, motorcycles, the stock market and of course, experimentation with various alcoholic refreshments.

Later in life, writing became an extension of my deep desire to experience “new and exciting worlds”. I have written several books, but none have been published through any formal channels… I’ve heard the process is long, painful and laborious, the thought of which sickens me. My foray into e-publishing came after a friend suggested my works could fetch dollars instead of dust inside my sock drawer… a righteous observation. My recent publications are the result of this advice.

An Engineer by trade and Writer by passion, I have worked all over the U.S. and usually write in my spare time… that is when I’m not enjoying a bottle of Scotch and a quality cigar. I am a naturally long-winded individual, so writing is what happens when I can’t get anyone to listen to me anymore…

I love all kinds of genres but gravitate more towards suspense. There is nothing like the build up to a great climax… What a rush!

With my new discovery in self-publishing, I have become focused and more determined to produce far greater works. Further adventure/suspense novels are soon to be released.

I usually don't read paranormal novels, but I tried ENDLESS SUMMER. I wasn't disappointed. Christopher Petersen has written a poignant story that touches the heart. The Rileys are a loving family. Will and Joan, and their young children, Joshua and Rachel, go to a New England beach for a summer vacation. Joan has an interest in ghosts and spirits, while Will lovingly chides her about this. Their banter is clever and loving.

Strange things begin happening, and the days take on a certain sameness, coupled with a bit of amnesia for what happened the day before. The days are gorgeous, the sun brilliant, and the reader becomes slowly aware that the Rileys' experience has an open-ended strangeness, one that's slightly creepy, yet suffused with love and caring, as are the relationships among the family members.

I don't want to go into too many details and rob the reader of the pleasure, poignancy and suprises that wait (no spoilers). Let me say that as the book neared its conclusion, tears welled up in my eyes. This is not your usual "ghost" story meant to scare or horrify. Not at all. It is a straightforwardly written tale that probes the immeasurable depths of human love, understanding and acceptance of what life offers us. It's a gem of a novel and I recommend it to anyone who craves a deeper understanding of life, love and committment.

The author has produced an interesting book, that although primarily a ghost story, also straddles time as well.

Joan and Will are taking their children away on holiday at a beach resort. Joan takes a book with her on ghost sightings. As the holiday develops, Joan and her sceptical husband become increasingly interested in the ghost of a local woman who died in tragic circumstances some 150 years before. What does this ghost want and why are there so many others on the beach?

This book fascinated me. I have to confess that I read it because I so enjoyed the author's other book, A Tear in Time. Although the subject matter is somewhat different in this book, Chistopher David Pettersen's skill in bringing characters to life makes it a charm.

If you are looking for a feel good story, that is also a ghost story, with good characters, then you'll enjoy this book.

The premise of the story interersted me as I enjoy reading ghost stories. However, the book had some flaws that needed addressing. First, Petersen needed a good editor. There were grammatical errors that bothered me such as incorrect subject-verb agreement and spelling errors. Second, I was irritated with the constant wise-cracking between the mnain characters. No couple I know constantly without ceasing banters about nothing. Third, the dialogue was a bit stilted. Still, I liked the book well enough.

Endless Summer is a ghost story unlike any other. The characters and ghosts in this story lead you to examine the deeper meaning of life. The author does a great job of painting the scenes and developing the characters. The weight of the inevitable doesn't make it predictable--it only makes you feel for the characters and moves you to want to reach out and help them in their quest.

As a thought provoking novel, Endless Summer will stimulate you to examine, once again, why we are here and what happens next. Excellent job.

A wonderful story filled with déjà vu. Will keep you guessing until the very end. Will, Joan and their two kids, Samuel and Rachel get to live a vacation they will never forget. Strange things happen that makes them wonder if something is wrong with them. The end is very emotional. I totally recommend Endless Summer, a great read! You will not be disappointed!

Another great story from Christopher! I didn't guess what was going on till the middle of the story and suddenly it clicked and there was a great ending to it too.
