This is the untold story of SPOOKS, the secret branch of the government that protects humanity from things that go bump in the night. But when the king of vampires forms an alliance with the deadliest of witches to launch an invasion of classic monsters on Washington, D.C., the Spooks find themselves in an all-out battle for the fate of the planet!
This didn't quite live up to my expectations. I've been a fan of Larry Hama since the GI Joe days, and I've read some of the graphics novels based on Salvatore's Drizzt character, so I had high hopes. But it really fell a little flat.
It's about a branch of the military that deals with supernatural threats such as vampires, werewolves and witches. Not an entirely new concept, but a pretty good one. The story didn't really go very deep, however, and you just had the standard monsters trying to take over the world, army trying to stop them story. Art's pretty good on this one.
Not bad at all, just could have been better. Good enough I'll try the next volume.
Imagine if a military team were to take on vampires, zombies, and werewolves. This could make for a great B movie, but unfortunately, the tongue-in-cheek action and plot doesn't play so well in this graphic novel. Thankfully it had a suitable ending.
Alright this is just pure popcorn monsters VS soldiers fun. There is no real plot or even character development of any kind. Which is fine if all you want is fun action and monsters. Just don’t get pissed if you read it for more than that.
