She Didn't Want His Help, But She Needed It - and the 24/7 Protection He Was Offering

Forensic analyst Gigi Lynd had an agenda. And it didn't include facing off against cop-turned-ranger Matt Blackthorn. But she'd do anything to help investigate a deadly attack in the Colorado back country and uncover a conspiracy...even partner up with a hardened loner who saw her inexperience as a liability.

Matt couldn't afford a partner like stubborn, sexy Gigi. He'd lost too many men in the line of duty to pretend that he could keep her safe. If he was going to catch the killer, he needed to stay focused. Determined. But his greatest distraction came from a woman he had no choice but to protect....

Jessica S. Andersen is an American writer of mystery and medical romances. She obtained a PhD in Genetics, but when she finally settles on a single career, she will have been many things: a doctor of molecular genetics, a patent agent, a freelance editor, a professional horse trainer and riding coach, a fiance and the proud owner of a pair of corgis. But if you ask her who she is, Jessica will say, "I'm a writer. The rest is all background research."

Jessica lives in a smal farm in eastern Conneticut with her own personal hero, Brian, as well as the corgis, two cats and a handful of young horses, who she claims are investments but never seem to get sold.

A decent enough read. I think the on going storyline throughout the series detracts from the enjoyment of the books, which are well written, but I am not a fan of ongoing storylines where I feel "forced" to read an entire series to get to the conclusion of the main storyline. But that is my own pet peeve.

I enjoyed this book and only put it down to go to sleep. I woke the next morning at 7 am to finish it. Matt is the head ranger at station 14. One of his rangers has gone missing and could be dead. He follows one of the hikers who has found her. She is barley alive and unconscious. She didn't just fall, she was attacked by someone or a few people.

The investigation starts when the police from Bear Claw are called in. To Matt's horror Gigi aCSI is called in after Matt requested someone else. He didn't think she could handle herself. He saw her once before and thought she was very incapable. Rather he liked it or not he was stuck with her.

As things are heating up with finding out who tried to kill the ranger, things are starting to heat up with Matt and Gigi who has other aspirations then staying in Bear Claw.

I like how the author writes along with the setting. You can tell she has done some research on fires, the wilderness, rangers etc. I like the romance woven into the suspense. The book does keep you guessing as to what or who is causing the issues at the rangers station.

I find it a must read.

Awesome series, one of my absolute favs! Definitely recommend!!!

Enjoyed the beginning of the story, how they were attracted to one another but couldn't stand one another, but when she was in trouble, he did all he could to rescue her and then give her a first kiss that she would never forget!

There was romance, suspense, and crime. A lot of unanswered questions at the end of the book. Unfortunately this book is a start of another arc in the Bear Claw Creek Crime Lab.

Matt couldn't afford a partner like sexy, bullheaded Gigi. He'd lost too many men in the line of duty to pretend that he could keep her safe. If he was going to catch a killer, he needed to stay focused on the job at hand. Determined, his greatest distraction came from a woman he had no choice but to protect even if she didn't want it.

I thought it was an excellent book. I am happy that she wrote it and is writing about kack next. I would love for her to write a book about bert and Ian from this book. it was a basic light romance.
