Blood & Bones: Cage

Rate this book
When life takes a turn least expected, you better hang on tight....

When an unexpected delivery lands on Cage’s doorstep, the Blood Fury MC’s Road Captain realizes his future’s about to change. Forever. He’s not ready to deal with the responsibility life just handed him and isn’t afraid to admit he needs help. Desperately.

The answer to his problem comes in the form of a strong, gorgeous woman he hasn’t seen in over 20 years. Since Jemma’s no longer a kid he can ignore, he must remind himself she’s only there for one reason. And, causing problems between him and her brother, the club’s sergeant at arms, is definitely not one of them.

With her help, Cage slowly begins adjusting to the new normal his life has become. Until the Shirley Clan does the unthinkable. Now, it’s up to him to make sure they regret stealing what’s his. With everything to lose, this will be the most important fight of his life.

Blood & Bones: Cage is the fifth book in the Blood Fury MC series. As always, this book has no cheating, no cliff-hanger, and has an HEA. It’s recommended to listen to this series in order.

This entry into the series was painfully boring. I would have enjoyed watching Cage struggle by himself with Dyna more than I did when Jemma was included. I didn't get any of the chemistry that I should have but more importantly, I hated how much Jemma hated the MC life and then decided to live that way anyway for "love" that seemed superficial and clinical to me. Once the "action" starts near the end, it was too late and too implausible to save the book. Also, using the kids and the MC member excuses for doing so was not okay for even my dubious moral compass when it comes to what I will tolerate from an MC story.

Why didn't Cage have any money? He's a single guy with a good job living large on the MC campus without paying room or board. I don't think the book ever says how old he is but if this guy has no money, Trip needs to get a good financial guy in to give these guys some lessons on money management if he ever wants them to live stable lives.

It feels like the last few couples in the series are made up of a biker, an unlikely love interest, and then the question "how much will a woman give up, overlook or settle for, for love?" which doesn't feel really very romantic to me. These guys take a lot and these woman do a lot of giving. I am not seeing any balance in the relationships.

Frankly, seriously, I would have enjoyed just watching Cage try to raise a baby and have a normal MC life while doing the best for her. Single woman do it all the time, would have been refreshing to watch him do it and then find love.

Updates: I'm kind of sad I finished the book. The end was... Irredeemable for me. The added connection to Jemma's childhood made what I already wouldn't have found okay even worse. I have no idea why the author would write that in unless she was gearing up to break the couple up down the road, it's so specific and unnecessary and shows just a complete lack of character in the Heroes.

I read and love very dark books. But this isn't a dark read, it's just a read about some complete selfish douchebags.

I was all going to continue with the series and chalk this one up to a one off but... I don't know if I care to, honestly. I don't think I have any empathy or care for the remaining Heroes anymore.

*****

I dunno I think I am just going to skim this one and try the next.
Half the book is Jemma going on and on and on and on about how she doesn't want them to end up like her dad and omg she can't ever do this and why are they ending up like Ox and why all bikers are bad and oh no, yet again, worried they will be like Ox.
Over and over and over.

Then an over the top stereotype of a gay man thrown in for 'comedy' and I guess now we have a story?

I dunno, this one isn't doing it for me, I think it's the female MC and her monologues mostly but the stereotypes pushed me over the edge.

I read another review that said exactly what I felt. So much so, I almost didn't write this review. However, there were so many things I LIKED that I was compelled.

This book was well written (as I've come to expect from this author), the MC was wonderful and realistic, and the whole Blood Fury world works for me. Cage was a man caught totally off guard by a twist of fate, but he stepped up and handled it. Did his best. If you believed Jemma, however, he was a do-nothing who was completely unworthy of anything good in this life, up to and including his daughter. Jemma was judgmental, mean, selfish, unforgiving, and without any personal insight. Even when her misguided and mistaken opinions were proved wrong, she held on to them.

Frankly, I don't know why Cage wanted to be with her. She behaved like a bitch right up until the end, and her reason for changing her mind didn't ring true for me. She suddenly saw how short life was because of her work as a hospice nurse? She'd been a hospice nurse throughout the book and beyond. She hadn't figured that out yet?

I struggled to find redeeming qualities in Jemma. Unfortunately, I didn't find enough to make her a character I could ever like.

Cage is a member of the Blood Fury whose childhood has ensured that he keeps his relationships with woman short and casual. His life is about to undergo a change he isn’t prepared for and never saw coming. With the help of Jemma he may just realize the life he has been living is a pale comparison to the life he could be living.

Jemma may have been born into the MC, but it isn’t the life she wants. Fate and her brother conspire against her and she finds herself back with the MC to help Cage adjust to the changes he is facing but neither was prepared for the chemistry and connection between them.

Although Cage and Jemma appear to be complete opposites but they give each other what they didn’t know they were looking for but if they are going to have a future together they must first help each other heal from their pasts.

I don’t know why but this series isn’t pulling me in like the Down and Dirty series. I’m struggling to find the connections between the couples and don’t feel the bikers are connected to each other, in a brotherhood’s kind of way. Still invested, we shall see how it goes.

I really didn't like Cage at the start of this one. He was such an ass, so I kinda liked how he was taken down a peg. It was a serve gut punch, one that had him panicking. I thought it was funny how everyone at the shop gave him so much shit, especially Dutch. Yet, when push came to shove they all supported him too.

Jemma was interesting. We had heard about her for a while now, so I was happy to meet her. Her ending with the original club members was so bad, that I wanted to see what she felt now. She very much wasn't happy that her family was pulled in again and with good reason to her experiences in the past, which were much worse that I expected. The way things ended, ended up being a good thing for her, I fear how she would have been treated at some point.

Jemma and Cage together were odd. They had the history, were close in age, yet it was jarring those first interactions. Cage needed help, desperately, Jemma could help, but she made him ask for it out right, which I kinda love her for. As time went on you could see things changing, Cage couldn't continue to live his asshole ways, Jemma got to see the soft side of him, which broke down her barriers. Things were going good for them, they were building something, then the Shirleys came back into play and everything went to hell fast!

Instead of seeing what Trip was building for the new club, all she could see was shades of the past club, which scared the hell out of her. So when an opportunity came up, she took it and got the hell away. While I liked what Jemma and Cage were building, I knew it was right for her to leave, both Cage and Jemma needed to learn something. It made Jemma's choice at the end all the sweeter.

Meh, this one was okay.
The last one and this one both cooled off for me as far as the romance itself goes. Like it didn't even seem like Jemma was even really that into Cage other than thinking he was a good dad and Cage just saw Jemma as someone to take care of his daughter. There didn't seem to be much about her as a person that he really liked. He said she was stubborn, some times as a good thing and some times bad, depending on if it was something he wanted her to be stubborn about. Beyond that, there wasn't much about her even discussed.
He actually seemed to compliment the other club girls more than her, even if it was just about physical attraction.
The girl in the kitchen (gah, I can't remember her name but I do remember her walking around a community kitchen naked except for tube socks) is so obnoxious. Like she wanted to be Cage's house mouse and take care of his daughter and in the same sentence call her a brat. Ugh. I wish she would just go away. I'm so glad none of the guys have actually gotten with her yet.
I'm kinda sick of the Shirley's and not even because of what they do. Because the club doesn't just finish them. They go up there and take out a few but that's it. Obviously they have no objections to killing them, but why not end the whole damn clan at once and call it done?Obviously just to draw out the drama but I'm over it.
I'm glad Jemma kept her career and didn't give it up just to be with Cage. I thought it was so cheap and wrong for him to guilt her into coming back by sending her pics of a crying baby who she'd only taken care of for 6 weeks. Six weeks and he says that she's her new mom? Just no.

The earliest memory that Cage has of his childhood was his mother walking out the door and out of his life forever and when his infant daughter that he knew nothing about is abandoned into his care his life will never be the same. Jemma also has bad memories from her childhood regarding the MC, so when she finds herself back in Shadow Valley to help Cage, she insists it is only temporary. But being in close quarters finds them both with feelings they should not have. Will the MC life of old be changed in Jemma's eyes in order for her to stay? Or will the danger that follows them be too much for all three of them? With emotion and angst running rampant through the pages this was the best book in the series thus far. Jeanne St. James made sure the reader understood just how deep the bond of the brotherhood goes. This is a couple I would like to see in other books again and again.

Another great addition to the series! This time we follow Cage and some unexpected package land almost on his doorstep. What it is you will have to read in the story as Ms. James landed another bomb here!
This occurrence will bring back home Jemma - sister of our fav Judge! She's the kid of Blood Fury, born and raised there, but she decided to have a different life on her own. When she's back her old feelings are rising, but is it something that she wants to follow? Can her view of MC's life be changed or her feelings are about to be dropped along the way?
Once again Ms. James brought so imaginative character to life and I was so engaged that I did not ant t finish this story!
A great addition to the series!!!

I had read the epilogue for Cage several months ago and it absolutely ripped my heart out.
This book is just an emotionally charged, heart breaking story of emotional turmoil, pain, suffering, fear and so much more. It’s also a story filled with unbelievable love! Unbelievable transformations and ultimately the true meaning of family!

I will never look at a rain storm the same way again!!

So much I want to say but I will not spoil this masterpiece. Jeanne St James has an uncanny ability to take hold of your heart and soul with her books. You never truly get them back, and that’s okay!

You’re going to laugh, you’re going to cry, you’re going to laugh a whole lot more and you’re going to feel a bone deep sense of pain for Cage. You’ll understand as you read this, but I wanted to hug him so many times.

As always everyone is present and you can’t help but feel like you’re actually in Manning Grove!

I loved it and I can’t wait to read the next one. I will re-read this series when it’s complete. I will find a quiet place and start with Trip and not stop until the last sentence is written in the Fury!!

Absolutely fantastic.

This book is not as good as it should have been. Ms. St James is a good writer, but the book is not up to par with respect to her talent. Some of the characters are solid and others are weak; sometimes we are shown what is happening between the hero and heroine and most times we are just told. it seems uneven and disjointed, giving the story a feel of precariousness.

Jemma was born into the 1%er club life and hated it; she left as soon as she could. Now she’s back, helping Chris (aka ‘Cage’), a childhood friend, take care of the new addition to his family. The advert blurb on Amazon hinted broadly – and I’m not sure why it didn’t just come out and say – that this new addition was a surprise baby daughter, the result of a spring quickie using a condom that was ineffective. This is scarcely a spoiler since we learn this at the beginning of the book.

I did not care for the way Jemma behaved toward Cage. It felt contrived by the writer, and this intrudes on the story. Jemma is hateful, says some ugly things to Cage, and is pretty full of herself and of the scars she holds dear from her horribly warped childhood. While her reasons for being against the MC lifestyle are reasonable, she is unduly harsh and judgmental of others in that way of life, even when they do everything to support her.

The relationship between Cage and Jemma felt like a two-step dance where they slipped and slid all over the place, getting nowhere. By having sex with Jemma, Cage disrespected a lot of people – his club president, her brother, and her cousin, the MC itself and even Jemma; he doesn’t realize this, of course, until after sex. Then he feels guilty. She feels…what…? Remorse? No. Guilt? No. Happy? No. I really don’t know what she felt. She is an emotional basket filled with a driving need to escape. [I’m not completely sure what she is trying to escape, but I imagine it’s herself.]

Cage and Jemma are constantly bickering, mostly driven by sex and about their lack of a relationship. She’s not into one-nighters, but apparently random sex is OK. (Really?) He has not been into anything but quickies, totally a one-and-done kind of guy. The writer wants us to believe they have a smoldering response to one another. They don’t. The do not burn, they do not sizzle. They fizzle….out.

There is one scene in particular that ends up funny, although it’s meant to be (still another) serious discussion about relationships. They’ve had sex for (I think) the first time. She’s gone back to the trailer they share in order to shower off his scent. He does the same, then gets out of the shower and walks around the living areas without clothes because she’s already seen him naked anyway. I think the writer forgot Cage had no clothes on because the mood Jemma was in would have caused her to go ballistic at his confrontational nudity when he knocks on her closed bedroom door and insists on a conversation. Thinking about him in the nude while they discussed “deep and meaningful” things was a giggle. It shouldn’t have been, because they were discussing weighty issues, but it was. If he’d been naked in the scene, Jemma would have said something snide, in keeping with her previous behaviors.

I wish the writer had shown us how Jemma nurtured Cage’s growth into a responsible father. Instead, we are told she kept him focused and helped him “become a better father when he was foundering [and] calmed him;” I wish the writer had shown us this tenderness rather than telling us about it. The writer states, “when he was afraid he’d hurt Dyna [his daughter], she [Jemma] assured him his daughter wasn’t breakable. When he did something wrong, Jemma showed him how to do it right. When he was overwhelmed, she stepped in.” Why not show us, instead of telling us about it?

The obligatory sex scenes were just that: required. They felt almost clinical. There’s plenty of sex, and talk of a deep connection on Cage’s part, but it isn’t believable. The attraction between them feels forced, possibly because she is constantly referencing how “short time” their relationship is. Jemma is anxious to move on, away from her bad memories, away from him, and she continually reminds Cage of this. Her plan is to be gone just as quickly as she can find a paying job and get out of there.

There are some errors, for example:
==) “…you still look like the walking dead, but your upright and breathing….” That should be “…you’re upright and breathing….” I think this is a typo because the writer typically uses "your" and "you're" correctly.
==) “…it was clear to see both her cousin and brother were in love.” This sentence makes it seem as if her brother and cousin were in love with each other. Hopefully, that’s not a first cousin.

I rated this book a generous 3-stars because Ms. St James has a good writing style. However, the book is an unsatisfactory read. Jemma is a chronically fearful complainer. She is not a sympathetic character, and Cage, who steps up to a rough situation, deserves so much more. And so do we readers; we deserve more, too.

Blood and Bones: Cage by Jeanne St. James

Cage is a man used to having women throw themselves at him. As the Road Captain of the Blood and Bones MC Club, women flock to him for the danger and exoticism of what they perceive an MC club stands for. Happy being single and having his pick of women, a surprise delivery at the club doorstep flips his world upside down.

Jemma is a hospice nurse who uses her empathetic nature to guide loved ones from transitioning their relatives and friends from being on their deathbed to death itself. She loves her job but when an event at work causes her to lose her job unjustly, Jemma finds herself at loose ends.

Jemma is called home to help Cage with his new life. Even though she knows it will cause havoc in her life due to the remembered nightmares and tragedies that struck while she was living in Manning Grove, Jemma helps the Road Captain with his responsibilities with the understanding that this is temporary until she can find a new job. But neither Jemma nor Cage expected the passion and love to blossom between them. Now the question is, when it is time for Jemma to leave behind the nightmares and bad memories, will she be able to leave behind her new memories with Cage and those she has come to love?

Jeanne St. James is an instant buy for me. Each of her books entail everything I look for in an author; passion, danger, love, sexual tension oozing between the pages, continuous page turning, and so much more. I will never look at another rainy day the same ever again! I just hope at some point I can experience what Cage and Jemma did. I will say that you do not need to read the Blood and Bones series from the beginning but I highly recommend it! To experience one Blood and Bones book is fabulous. To experience them all is like finding a water oasis after 2 long days in the desert! It will quench your thirst like no other series has before!

Cage and Jemma will win you over and you'll be tearing through the pages waiting for them to get together. They might be bad guys with shady pasts but you can't help but fall for the MC men from the Blood Fury.

Cage made a mistake and it was a big one, now his mistake has been dropped on his doorstep and he has to figure out how to deal with the fall out of the mistake and the punishment the club will dish out for him breaking the rules.

Jemma hates the MC life, she'll never get over her childhood and since she and Judge got out of that life as kids she never wanted to be back near them again. But for her brother Judge, she makes the sacrifice to come and help out his club brother.

When Cage needs help even though his brothers are pissed at him they will stand by him. Now he just has to figure out how to get his life in order. Jemma is back now mixing with the club, but this time it's different, or at least they tell her it is. The problem is she's starting to want to be around a certain biker and his new baby more and more. She's quickly falling in love with the baby and her Dad is weaselling his way in as well.

Cage wants Jemma, they were little the last time he saw her and now she's all grown up and when he sees her for the first time again he feels something he never has before. His baby is the most important thing in his life right now but Jemma is becoming something he doesn't want to live without.

They take a hit when someone comes after them and this is just what Jemma knew would happen. Once they recover Jemma is out. She decides enough is enough and she can't be in this life, she hates leaving the baby and even Cage but she can't stay. Cage won't force her to stay and lets her go even though it breaks him. He didn't want his baby to go through what he did but he wanted Jemma to want them as much as they wanted her.

Who will make the first move so they can get finally get their HEA.

I really wanted to like this book more. I did love the main plot point of Cage having a surprise baby and all of the suffering that went along with a single young guy that doesn’t know anything about babies being thrust into instant fatherhood. A problem for me was that a lot of the characters I loved from past books were jerks. I know Dutch isn’t supposed to be a warm and sweet father, but he constantly was smacking Cage and Rook and stories from their childhood were rather horrifying. There were sweet moments with Dutch as a grandfather and he said some hilarious things, but it didn’t make up for some of the hurtful things he said to Cage (for instance stating that Cage should lose his colors). I thought Cage’s punishment for breaking a rule, one that had to be pointed out Sig broke too without consequences from the club, was stupid and unfair. I get rules cannot be broken, but Jenna was right that he could have been dangerously injured or killed. Jemma wasn’t even likeable. She was rational in the behind with her worries over the club and and it’s members becoming like the Fury of old, but she was there long enough to see that Cage and the others were not anything like the Originals and the club was very different too. I didn’t appreciate the pot shots she took at Cage when he was clearly doing the best that he could with being a brand new dad. Constantly comparing him to Ox and other Originals, his lack of money. Etc. Etc. Was juvenile and cruel. I guess I didn’t feel the spark between Cage and Jemma because I really disliked how she treated Cage and her behavior. I give it three stars because there was a lot of humor, some great action, and it the story is well written.

Blood & Bones: Cage
Blood Fury MC, Book 5
By: Jeanne St. James
Narrated by: Lance Greenfield, Ava Lucas

From prologue to epilogue, this book had my heart. Jeanne St James starts this amazing story with a heart wrenching scene that grabbed my attention and kept me riveted for the next 10 hours! Cage's story is one of heartbreak, unexpected circumstances and a love that envelopes your heart. When Cage finds out he is a father, life as he knows it changes. Needing any help he can get, Judge's sister Gemma, returns to Manning Grove to temporarily help out. But what these two don't know is it's not just the baby that needs help. These two broken souls may just find together they can heal. But danger is lurking, and just when things may look safe, the most dangerous of situations occurs. Where will it leave these two? Be still my heart! Jeanne St James has a twist in this one that caught me off guard and had my heart pounding! Romantic suspense, alpha male to the hilt and a single dad teddy bear all had me with this one. And now I have a new favorite! Keep them coming! I am all in with this MC!

St James has a way of matching her characters to the perfect voices. Lance Greenfield, with his rough, sensual voice gives us Cage. He can make him vulnerable even with that tough exterior. And the way he is with Dinah! Oh that baby is so lucky! And then to have Ava Lucas as Gemma, that tough woman with the hurtful past. I can feel her pain right through the love she gives. Amazing casting just makes the book that much better and this one is a sure winner.

Super smexy Cage!!

Cage is the 5th book in the Blood Fury MC series. Cage’s life was just coasting along, getting settled with his MC when an expected daughter gets literally left on his doorstep. Everything gets tossed in the air, but despite being scared, there’s no way he’s going to abandon his baby like his mother did to him and his brother. The club finds help for him in the form of Gemma, someone Cage hasn’t seen since they were little.  Someone who REALLY doesn’t want back in to MC life, but is willing to help out in a pinch. Jemma and Cage’s feelings for each other grow, but Cage is concerned Jemma can’t get past the trauma of her childhood to be open to spending a lifetime with Cage, his baby, and the MC… and all that entails. In the meanwhile, the Shirley Clan is up to their old tricks, reinforcing Jemma’s fears.

I really liked this story, just like I’ve really enjoyed all of Jeanne St. James’ novels. I thought Cage came off a little immature at first, but he definitely had to grow up fast being responsible for his daughter.  Gemma is a harder girl, formed by her childhood and watching her uncle die and I liked how strong she was. The story was a bit predictable, but most certainly entertaining and the smexy times were super hot.  Can’t wait for Shade!!

Loved Cage’s Journey

Like Sig, Jeanne took Cage, a character I had already formed a somewhat unfavorable opinion about in prior books, and m ade him and his story amazing. Her talent for creating characters with distinct voices and deep, raw and often painful reasons for their behavior and personalities keeps me coming back for more. In this series I have found myself laughing, shouting and crying.

Cage was such a delight to read about. Well known to be a cocky jerk, he proved that was the smallest facet of his personality when compared to his huge heart and willingness to embrace humility to give his surprise daughter a good life with a family who loves her. The love he had for his daughter was so clear and his determination to be the father that girl needed was heart warming.

Jemma, on the other hand was a big disappointment for me. I was hoping she’d show up in the series, and while I understood her issues and she had valid reasons for being wary of MCs, for 99% of the story she was over the top judgmental, kind of mean, and formed her opinions from her past and not the reality in front of her. She figured it out eventually, but I really had a hard time with her walking way for as long as she did. I did appreciate her constantly as a character and her eventual willingness to face her demons.

These Reads keep getting better and better

Cage and Dyan OMG who would have thought. An Alpha Biker so dotting on his little Monkey. And Dutch the hardass proud peacock of a Grandfather. My heart exploded. I half expected Cage to get one of those baby carriers for his chest and plop Dyan in it like "D" did with his girls and take her on a ride. He was so in love with his daughter, scared but still so in love with her. When Judge's sister Jemma agreed to help out until she got a job I thought how sweet until we actually meet her. She like Reese was not my favorite character. She couldn't see what was right in front of her. She refused to leave the past in the past and seemed to judge everyone. It didn't help that her own brother was the one who had to punish Cage and she walked up on it. As much as Jemma fought it she fell in love with a biker and his adorable daughter. Dyan bounded with Jemma as if she were her mother. And for Jemma to just up an walk away for both Dyan and Cage you know that had to hurt Cage. It's exactly what his own mother did. Discarded her kids as if they were trash. There are some really really tense moments in Cage's book especially with the Shirley Clan. I swear I though he was going to go ballistic and just lose it. A bright point in the book was when Jemma finally took her head out of her butt and went back for Cage and Dyan. That redeemed her a tad. I loved when Cage told her she couldn't bolt if the going got tough. She had to stay. I think she will. Now I'm dying to jump into Shade's book. Who is this man? What is this man? Where did he come from?

I swear, I don't know how but each one of these guys and the women who fall for them steals my heart! Right from the get go, Cage is basically, what you see is what you get. He's a little arrogant, a little self-involved, a little immature. Not immature in his behavior as in juvenile and silly, more like he had no responsibilities and that was great with him. The reality hits him in the face, hard and he has to put up or shut up. He rises to the occasion rapidly and you can't deny that he does so admirably. When Judge's sister Jemma comes home to help him, it only temporary. She is trying to find a new job and once that happens, she is outta there. Manning Grove reminds her of the past at every turn, stirring up old memories that breed nightmares. But she does it to help her family. The problem is she wants nothing to do with club life ever again. How can the one man that she has this undeniable connection with be the one man she can't bear to be with. Heartfelt and sweet, this book was filled with a longing for home and how stubbornness can blind you to the one thing you want the most. Brilliantly written and so freaking perfect, Cage bested Deacon as my favorite and am desperately awaiting Shade! All the stars for Jemma and Cage!

SS.SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Cage had sex with an Amish virgin and even though they used a condom she got pregnant. She leaves the baby on his doorstep. After a DNA test he keeps his daughter. Having no idea what to do with a baby and no money to buy baby stuff.

So the entire book focuses around this new baby girl. Jemma is the sister of Deacon. She is a registered nurse who comes to town after she got fired from her last job. (not her fault, boss grabbed her)

Jemma stays with him and helps out. She tries to resist him at first since she says she is leaving town and wants nothing to do with a motorcycle club after what she suffered as a five year old when her dad was in the club and used her as a human shield when the cops came to arrest him.

Cage wears her down (it doesn't take much convincing at all) and of course they end up together. I just didn't feel the romance in this book. She kept thinking what a great dad he was and how hot he was. I didn't feel like I felt any love between them.

I still really love this series and highly recommend it. Shade's book is next and he is very mysterious.

Wow. I was not expecting this one. This is the fifth book in the Blood & Bones series and I've loved them all, but the vulnerability Cage shows throughout puts it at/near the top of my favorites.

At the very beginning of the story, Chris "Cage" Dietrich, is hit with a huge surprise. A life changing surprise, and he's left wondering how he'll be able to handle his new responsibilities. He made a mistake, one that has big consequences, and the reader can't help but sympathize with his situation. And the way he's treated by the people close to him.

As Cage's life is turned upside down, Jemma rolls into town, a town she hates because of terrible memories, but a town she spends time in as a favor to her brother, who is part of the same MC as Cage. She gets talked into living with Cage and helping with his new life changes, and while she's there, she can't help but fall for him. Fall for his tenderness and vulnerability, even though she despises the MC life he's part of.

St. James does an incredible job making flawed characters who are unapologetic when it comes to who they are, and as I mentioned before, Cage is one of those characters you can't help but fall in love with despite his stupid decisions and imperfections. This is well worth the read!

4 Suprise Stars

Blood & Bones: Cage is the fifth book in the Blood Fury MC series by Jeanne St. James. Cage is a member of the Blood Fury, he's always had a complicated relationship with woman and never goes for long term. But his life is about to change in a huge way when a baby is dropped off to the garage he works at with his name on the note.

Her mother didn’t want her. Just like his didn’t want him. He couldn’t give her up. He couldn’t walk away from her. He couldn’t do that.

Jemma, Judges’ sister happens to help cage with his problem but she's adamant that she is only there to help temporarily.

Life could be cut short unexpectedly. The time spent with the ones you love was never enough. Any time you had with them shouldn’t be wasted.

But with Jemma there helping him he realises maybe he was really living his life before and with her he may see a new future for himself, but how does he convince Jemma that she is his future.

This was a great instalment in the Blood Fury Series and I really enjoyed it. The story was engaging and the secondary characters as always where what made this story great. I will definitely be reading more in this series.

Cage and Jenna

This book had me from the prologue
Little boys losing their mother gets me right in the feels.
Another big emotion the author pulled out was anger. I was mad on Cage’s behalf when his own brothers “taught him a lesson” as the book goes own I understood it more, but to say it’s equal to Sig’s punishment doesn’t seem right to me. Sig got beat up by the Amish, not his own family. Then to top it off right after Cage gets punished for sleeping with someone who’s “off limits” they have Judge’s sister move in with him, living in close proximity, and once again say she “off limits”, it’s like they want him to fail.
One thing that bothered me in this book is the age difference between Cage and Rook, in Trips books there was a large age gap (I don’t remember the exact number) then in the prologue of this book Cage was 8 and Rook was 10 (only 2 years difference) then after Jenna returns the book says Rook was 4 years older then Cage… that inconsistency is a pet peeve for me
My review may seem like I disliked the book more than I enjoyed it, but honestly that’s why I gave it 5 stars, because it was able to pull out such strong emotions. So far in the series this is my 2nd favorite next to Sig’s book

Just when you think you know what is coming next in the BFMC, Jeanne St. James throws you a curve ball you did not see coming, and I wasn't expecting what happens with Cage. Cage has never gotten over his mother walking out on him as a small child never to be seen again. Jemma's dad, OX, never was a father to her. The only true father and mother she had was when she and Judd moved in with their aunt and uncle. She so hated the MC life and vowed that she would never be a part of it. Cage is sailing through life working for Dutch at the shop and living without a care in the world. When an unexpected surprise show up, he is forced to man up. When he needs help, his brothers call on Jemma to come back to Manning Grove to lend a hand. Neither expected to fall for each other. There are quite a few bumps in the road, and they must call on the help of their brothers to conquer their enemies and demons. I was hooked right from the beginning of this book. Teddy's visit to the garage will have you laughing out loud!! A definite must read!

Another wonderful addition to the Blood Fury MC! Cage and Jemma are great characters and written so raw and realistically - Bravo Jeanne! I love this couple sooooo much. There was such heat and chemistry between the--you could feel their attraction burn thru the pages. Gage and Jemma both have a lot of baggage from their childhoods and Jemma has a very hard time with the idea of life in an MC being anything but trouble and pain. Gage is committed to the MC and his brotherhood but Jemma has an entirely different idea of what her life will be. Despite her love for her brother Judge and cousin Deacon, she cant imagine ever being part of the MC and cant understand any of them wanting to be after the horrors of their childhoods.
When Cage's life is turned upside down over night, he steps up and becomes the man he was meant to be and Jemma steps up and helps him out and in the process they fall in love and Jemma is left with some major soul searching to do.
One-click this wonderful book today! It will give you all the feels!

I absolutely loved this book. The story was well written and immersed
me in this book from page one until the end.
Cage is the 5th book in the Blood Fury MC series.
Cage is the Road Captain of the Blood Fury MC.
He works at his dad, Dutch, garage fixing cars. He gets to the garage
and sees some of the guys were standing around a cardboard box.
In the box is a baby and a note for Cage. It seems he's the daddy.
Cage broke one of Trip's sacred club rules.
Jemma, Judge's sister, is an RN and between jobs.
She moves in with Cage and helps with the baby until she finds
a new job. She doesn't want anything to do with MC life. Jemma grew up
in the original MC and has nightmares about her life as a child.
There is a slow build up of steamy chemistry between Cage and Jemma.
When they finally get together it's hot and sweaty.
The Shirley's cause a major incident. To find out how it comes out read this book.
Loads of MC action and adventure.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book from an advanced reader copy.

I have to honestly say that I did not think I would like Cage but boy does he win you over and you find yourself on team Cage. He is a captivating character and your always wondering what he will do next. Jemma is a perfect match for him and had a few hard decisions to make. It's always the little things that count but will it be enough to win her over. You feel for her and understand her dilemma. These are both endearing characters but you wonder how a couple can survive when at every turn there is a major crisis. I hope we get to read more about Cage and Jemma in the future.

As you read Jeanne's stories you can just picture the scenes happening in front of you. She just has a way with her descriptions that make her books come alive. I am looking forward to Shades story and now Rook is on my must read list. This has been a fantastic series and I can't wait to read what happens next.
I thank the author for this gift and here is my honest review.

Cage loves his freedom. He has his Brothers, his bike and a choice of any female he wants. They’ll have some mutual fun then she is out the door......he trusted one female, never again. Then one day he arrives at work only to have his world turned upside down. Jemma only comes home occasionally and that is only for a quick visit to see her family..... she hates Manning Grove. She’s only here because her brother Judd has asked her to come help......how can be associated with that club.......her father and those other members, they were awful. She will help Cage for now. She soon comes to see that Cage isn’t what she was expect which is a good thing in his being able to stand on his own, but a bad thing for her heart. Cage soon comes to realize that is ok to give your heart to a female, to love and know that you will destroy anything that tries to take that female from you. Will love be enough for Jemma to stay?

My overwhelming feeling toward this great book was my stomach being in hard knots. Hardship, past and present, too hard to overcome that I so wanted to change for Cage and Jemma. Cage's mother running out on him without a goodbye and Jemma's father actually using her to protect himself from police bullets! Cage's lack of money to support his daughter. Jemma's determination not to have anything to do with the MC lifestyle. Both so stubborn, it seemed like a hopeless love. Even an appearance from Teddy failed to relieve those stomach knots. But for everything Cage lacked, he seemed to pull himself up enough to remain committed and patient with his girls. And he faced up to the Shirleys, earning recognition from his father. Would have loved the details of his reckoning with Jemma's brother and cousin, Judge and Deacon. Will Jemma realize life is too short not to enjoy every moment possible with those you love?

Good

I am Conflicted on my final thoughts for this book. I really liked Cage and how he stepped up when it was necessary. He didn’t totally brush it off or pretend it was no big deal. He knew it was a huge deal. Unfortunately it seemed like everyone else spends way too long driving how much he screwed up. Over and over they won’t let it go. It’s clarified the incident was prior to Sig’s and not since but somehow he should have had hindsight?

And I’m really tired of these heroines that are super duper judgey about the MC. I understand being apprehensive about the drugs and parties but these guys are low grade criminals at worst. They have legit businesses and actually do work. Yet they keep being compared to 1%ers. The blow ups that happen to them are because they are good guys looking out for other people (Red, Cassie, Reilly) yet it’s all their fault?

I hope the next girls might be better.
