Born with a love of fantasy, and an out-of-control imagination, E.K. Frances has been creating stories all their life. Whether travelling the world, or walking the dog, their mind is always dreaming up a new adventure.

Dark, gritty, broken worlds; fast-moving plots, and morally grey characters; blurred lines between right and wrong, and plenty of twists. If you like the sound of that, you will enjoy E.K. Frances’ books.

Are you ready to embrace the darkness?

The light is book 5 in the hybrid fantasy series by E.K Frances.
The book follows Seb and his friends in the final book in the hybrid series. In the book you find out if Seb will save the world or if he goes into the darkness.
Every chapter draws you in and makes you feel like that you are in the book, joining Seb and his friends on their journey. Each character and the scenes are well described and any sensitive issues are handled with care.
E.k Frances has done it again with another brilliantly written book that had me hooked from the very first page. I truly recommend the light and look forward to reading more by E.K Frances.

Betrayal and Manipulated

Overall, a lot of about this series was a back and forth. People going against their words, making blind threats and breaking promises. At first, I was annoyed with that. It felt like there was no clear direction for the plot. I was left confused and worried why. However, the answers were here in this book. After everything Seb has gone through it is finally settled here. I think it was a fitting end for Seb. I enjoyed the book more than I thought I would have. But I’m happy it all came together in the end.

Love this series

So I literally forced myself to slow down reading these books but have finished the 5th one now and am sure I'll reread the series very soon as well as acquire whatever others he's written. There were ups and downs, highs and lows, an emotional rollercoaster that I've enjoyed every moment reading. I highly recommend these books.

good but …

Ok a very good series however I give it 3 stars because how many times does the main characters eyes water, there must have been another way to describe the characters feelings other than the repetitive I felt my eyes watering and then other characters eyes kept watering too. So this spoilt the books for me, as it got incredibly tedious as there must have been a reference to watering eyes on every page. But otherwise an interesting story and a good read.

E.K. Frances' The Light is the 5th and final book of her Hybrid fantasy series.
She continues the engrossing story of Sebastian Parker (Seb), her potentially all-powerful Alpha Quad that everybody fears will go dark and end the world. But that's only part of the story. There are others to contend with that could be just as, if not more dangerous. You think you've got it figured-out and find it changes, adding another dimension to the story.
The story covers so much more than just Seb. It opens you to so much about the world Seb and his girlfriend Sam have to navigate, as a couple of teens trying to find happiness with each other. But there are all the people in it with designs on using Seb's powers to their own ends. Including the humans.
Frances deftly portrays of all the main and contributing characters and players, making sense of a confusing and constantly shifting maze of alliances, friendships, suspicions and betrayals. They all have dark secrets, ominous plans and past atrocities to account for, so these become as compelling and interesting as the main arc of the story and every one contributes to make it one that I didn't want to put down. And then was sorry it was done.
Or is it? There's enough cleverly left to the imagination to make you think Frances could easily revisit this world and these characters later with a whole new arc that would be just as compelling a read as this book and the four that preceded it.
Great reading and well done. I highly recommend it and look to what's next.

Overall I like this series but the ending was somewhat of a let down. Seb and Arturo in the kitchen. There was nothing about creating the new world and the true motives of Arturo.

Seb is meant to be the Light and has become a parent. He is apparently the most powerful alpha to have ever lived and he’s just going to potter about in a cottage? I find that highly doubtful.

Plus there was nothing there about making sure the elections happened. He was meant to keep Arturo in check. I’ve enjoyed all five books until the last couple of chapters.

This is a great dsytopian fantasy series for teens. No spice, just lots of teen trauma and bulling with mistrust for good reasons from a male perspective. Main character can be irritating and choppy at times, but maybe it's my age.

Waiting for 3rd book of Alpha series to see how Daniel and Sébastien relate.

Definately recommend for teens!

Commented added after finishing both series:

I really enjoyed this teen dystopian fantasy series! The MC is male with a great supporting cast of good and evil. Makes me want to reread the Hybrid series after finishing New Dawn.

I recommend reading the prequels before starting on the Hybrid series. New Dawn was just released so I didn't read them in order.

They are very well written and New Dawn really pulled on my heart strings like the Hybrid series did.

A good series stays with you and these did that for me.
