i miss my vigilante found families so muchhh

issue 1: batwoman - GONE TOO SOON. anyway it was great to see the ryan x lena luthor team up what a concept!! her hot date! 'my girl'! we love to see it!! wished we could have spent more time with sophie, mary and alice but there weren't enough pagesss. also omg nooo luke and stephanie's date night!!! we were all rooting for them :((( bring this show back!!

issue 2: superman and lois - ok this story was way too cute it was the perfect little plot for a one-shot like this 10/10 no notes genuinely made me want to watch the show but i shan't because i'm still salty about it. i want someone to take this concept but make it one of my ships, take a guess which one

issue 3: legends of tomorrow - had an incredibly great run that got better and better each season but still gone too soon!!! this is the perfect comfort show i s2g it's like maximum nonsense + the found family we made along the way energy. why am i here typing this and not watching it right now? so good to see some of the old 'retired legends' mixed in with the newly retired ones and to know that they all hang out wherever/whenever they are in the universe! oh my god carter constantly being afraid of vandal savage was incredible, i love when a story can make fun of itself. miss you alllll will continue my rewatch soon

issue 4: stargirl - i don't think i watched a single full episode of stargirl i genuinely don't know what her powers are but surfing on her big stick thing looked cool! this felt more like a backstory for the needle guy rather than a stargirl story but you know what i have a deep respect for him

issue 5: the flash - i have watched eps of the flash where my faves have crossed over so i vaguely knew what was going on... i've never met bart though? does the show go to 2049 often?? i really loved the pages with a huge drawing of nora and wally running in the centre that divided up the rest of the panels!

issue 6: "hero's twilight" - i was wondering where all the to be continueds were leading to. it was nice to actually see kara though it still brings a tear to mine eye (what is this phrase from) when i see her in a mentorship role. her and barry were just babies when we met them :') the story itself was ?? the bad guy was taken down so easily lol and i felt like he had a very good point that they also talked about in s6 of supergirl but good for the children for getting some good heroing experience in i guess!

Batwoman. Stargirl. The Legends Of Tomorrow. Impulse and XS. Superman & Lois. When a threat arrives that each of these heroes cannot handle alone, it's time for everyone's favourite - a crossover!

Each of these stories recruits various heroes and villains into a bigger battle against a fitting foe - most of them are set at specific points in the TV show canon, and the fact that the TV show writers were roped in helps out a lot in this case. Some of them don't make the transition to the comic medium fantastically well, with some issues feeling a little overwritten - the Stargirl one especially has a lot of dialogue, from what I remember.

The art's also...okay. None of DC's top talent are on display here, but everything looks decent enough - everyone looks like their TV counterparts at least, so that's nice.

Look, this isn't perfect, I know that. It probably doesn't deserve the five stars. But considering the pandemic stopped us from getting any more Crisis-level crossovers on TV, I'm living vicariously through this, and imagining how good it would have looked to see it play out on our screens instead.

I guess I thought this book was something else. I thought it contained a Nicole Maines-written Dreamer story, and I was curious how she adjusted from portraying the character to writing the character. I didn't realize it was a bunch of stories set in the CWverse (none featuring Dreamer or written by Maines).

I'm not super familiar with the CWverse, so take this with a certain grain of salt. I have no background in most of these specific characters. I watched SUPERGIRL, which meant well but was often poorly written, and SUPERMAN AND LOIS, which was superb. Consequently, my favorite stories here - by a wide margin - were the SUPERMAN AND LOIS installments, which captured quiet family moments scattered throughout the characters' lives together. The STARGIRL chapter (and I've never warmed to any incarnation of Courtney) was solid enough. The remainder ... I didn't finish reading even one of them. I would've liked some solid character beats, but it mostly seemed to be a shallow Magog/Gog cosmic saga and I couldn't possibly find a reason to care.

The Arrowverse used to be a thing.

Remember those CW crossovers that featured (most) of the superteams battling a big bad?
This isn't that. Not exactly.

It's a crossover, for sure. What it isn't is epic or ...captivating(?) Loosely linked together, they're all written by people connected to the show they're about. It's a cute little callback, but definitely a little cringey. Think of it as a rallying cry to enjoy the shows while you can because the Arrowverse is on borrowed time. Everything ends.

cancellation is coming!

Bonus: Magog? Shifted from Superman obsessed to Flash (speedster) hating?
Bonus Bonus: Setup for season 9 of Flash? One final crossover before they turn off the lights?

Earth-Prime #1: Batwoman⭐⭐

Earth-Prime #2: Superman & Lois⭐⭐⭐⭐

Earth-Prime #3: Legends of Tomorrow⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This was the best issue of this series by far.
I'm so sad.
They canceled LoL.
But I would definitely read their story if they continue as a comic book series like Firefly and Buffy.
I just don't want this to end.
Especially after that sorry excuse of a tv series called Flash is renewed. Season 6 and 7 were a mistake, 8 doesn't look good either. It doesn't make sense for it to continue while the best Arrowverse -sorry Superman & Lois- show has been canceled.
I'm so mad.

one of these stories, Star Girl Roadtrip, was maybe the best superhero story i read last year. An old villain of the Star Spangled Kid and Stripsey's shows up to confront Stripsey while he's on vacation with w/his family. And there's a show of powers, but there is conversation on what it means to be a bad guy , on being a hero and on aging. Not surprising is the story is by James Robinson and the art is by Ordway. If i were 12 i wouldn't have liked it, but having read comics now for more than 50 years its was perfect.
The book also has a story about the replacement Batwoman, didn't like the character on tv, but here she's well written and makes sense. And the Legends story was fun.

Each of the CW shows, most of which have been cancelled by this point get some of the TV shows writers to write an issue, some of which play into a poor 6th issue with Magog. The larger whole never comes together even though some of the solo stories like the Legends of Tomorrow one are fun. If the Arrowverse wasn't quickly ending because of new owners at the CW and the streaming wars, this would have had a bigger impact. There's some reliable DC artists that have been around for a long time handling the art like Jerry Ordway, Clayton Henry and Paul Pelletier.

This collection of stories will only make any sense if you're reasonably familiar with the CW Arrowverse shows. Otherwise there is a lot of context missing. Individually, only the Superman and Lois issue #2 is a good stand-alone story. The other issues range from terrible (The Flash issue #5 is particularly bad and doesn't feature THE Flash, but is about his incredibly obnoxious kids) to mediocre. Not much to recommend.
