Isaac Walker had once been a heavy handed drug lord, who was proud of the fact that nobody dared to mess with him. But after dedicating his life to the Lord, Isaac began snatching wayward souls out of darkness and into God’s marvelous light. That is, until the day the people Isaac ministered to started coming up missing and a maniac began terrorizing him and his family. Before giving his life over to the Lord, Isaac would have handled this situation with a Glock. But now that Isaac’s only weapons were his Bible and prayer he was counting on God to send His angels to help him fight this battle. Iona Walker was successful, beautiful and every bit as cold blooded as her father, Isaac Walker had once been. As a lawyer she represents some of the most unsavory criminals in her city. Guilt or innocence doesn’t matter to Iona; cash is what counts. Iona is on her way to making a lot of money, and she doesn’t care that she had to turn her back on God to get it. But when Cynda Williams, Iona’s mother is diagnosed with a life threatening illness and then Iona gets kidnapped, she discovers that all the money in the world won’t help her get a prayer through to God.

“. . . Heartwarming, drama-packed and tender in just the right places.”—Romantic Times Book Review.
“Recommended for readers of redemption stories.” –Library Journal.
I have been reading the series and thus far this is my favorite. I took on Christian fiction after rededicating my life to Christ about 5 years ago in effort to guard my eye gate. I dont read anything secular at all. However, I have always had a great love for mystery and suspense and felt that Nora Roberts was the queen that quenched my thirst with her writing. I must say, you have topped her with this book. Faith and suspense are my new love and I am a new fan of yours.
Even though I didn't like the huge time gap I did love the story. It was so good and there was plenty of drama in this one. A nice addition to the story almost makes me wish I did spoiler reviews lol. It makes you want to get to the next book quick and just in case you can't find the list the next book is Rain for Christmas :)
Pastor Isaac had some most unusual happenings going on. I think I prob would have tried to quit the ministry. Ppl are just twisted and the novelist did an excellent job keeping the readers in suspense and introducing us to Iona. From the other books, I forgot or never understood that she truly was Isaac’s daughter. Keith, got to find out what was happening in his life. He has been such an integral part of Isaac’s life and now he is doing well and still in ministry.
Absolutely loved this book, full of sage advice to lead you to a more prayerful lifestyle! Praying is key in growing in your walk with Christ Jesus! Angelic and wholesome reading. Highly recommended!
The past, present and future are met with prayer. Wow this book has a powerful storyline. Faith, forgiveness and prayer a combination that can’t be defeated.
I love this series so far. If you like good quality Christian Fiction, this series will not disappoint. The characters are layered and the plot is not flat.
This book has a good plot. I was surprised by the actual culprit. There was an abundance of praying going on and faith in God to get through trouble times.
Pastor Isaac Walker is a former drug kingpen with an infamous reputation for laying down the law. He turns to the church where he commits his life to leading others to Christ. After over thirty years of making atonement for his sins, his past returns to haunt him with a vengeance. Now he is forced to acknowledge his past in order to rescue his family from an enemy he never imagined he would face. Iona Walker, Isaac's daughter, mirrors him during his younger years. When she is betrayed by a friend and kidnapped as a result of her father's past, can she turn life around and survive on her faith in God?
Through the Storm by Vanessa Miller is an exceptionally told story of sin, redemption and forgiveness. The imagery used was absolutely amazing. As I read, I was immediately engrossed in the double storyline, which was an unexpected plus. I loved how it portrayed that although we are imperfect, doing the right thing pays off. For those who have a spiritual background, this book will help you to envision how what happens in the natural realm often has spiritual significance as well. This author was recommended to me by a friend. I would definitely suggest this book to Christian fiction readers and I look forward to reading other titles by this author.
Fantastic. Yet, I must say that the opening scene and the slow pace had me picking the book up and then putting it down....only to pick it up again. I was committed to finishing this book.
We all have a past and once delivered...doesn't mean Satan stays away. If anything he shows up much more frequently. In this book the characters got a chance to see where their choices were far reaching, their mess became their message and their test was their testimony. From Isaac to Donavan and from Nina to Iona the reader was able to see the flaws of mankind and how they dealt with things. In scene after scene we were reminded of the power of prayer. We also saw that redemption and forgiveness reign supreme.
The authors did a phenomenal job introducing the concept of angels and how they protect us. Through the Storm is an awesome book. Another Vanessa Miller great!
Vanessa wrote a brillant novel. She drawned me in as the reader in the first few pages. I had to reread a few passages to make sure I read it correctly, how the angels are appointed to fight the battles for God's Chosen Ones. It is wonderful to see the same characters and new ones from the first Rain Series to be in the The Storm Series. I thought I was going to read all new characters. It is beautiful to hear that Nina could have a baby in her forties since I am getting up in age myself and have not had children yet. This gives me faith and I trust God through it all. I will read the other Rain Series this week!
Another good Christian fiction title dealing with spiritual warfare. I like that it shows that even though one can be saved and be a Christian, loving God and doing kingdom work that the enemy will still come at you. It shows that battles still come when you are saved but now we should know the value and power of prayer and avail ourselves of this weapon. Then we can be victorious in battle. Yes we still may suffer the consequences for past decisions but God has angels that are ready to do fight for us when we can humble ourselves and call on His name.
I'm a huge fan of Vanessa Millers books but this one was a bit too detailed. I think because of so many details it made for an ok read, not a great read. It's good to have details and set up the scene but sometimes it can get so detailed it begins to get a little boring and that's what this read was for me.
However, the plot was good and it showed a true testament of faith. Love the foundation of the characters and their courage to stand on the Word of God no matter what it looks like.
Awesome book! A must read! Vanessa Miller's imagination of the supernatural is extreme in this novel. It will renew your spiritual and prayer life as you read! As well as entertain and leave you on the edge of your seat with each turn of the page!
What a great suspense Christian novel. I enjoyed every page of this book. Definitely a page turner. Miller reminds her readers that no matter what you've gone through in your past it can be forgiven and turned around if you just give your life to the Lord. Great Read!!
Great book. A Christian book that is also about a family that is suffering attacks of the enemy. It is suspenseful and almost non-stop action. Really enjoyed it.
For anyone who don't believe in the power of prayer should read this book. The authors ability to show that forgiveness and faith work was awesome. I enjoy reading this book.
I really enjoyed this novel! God showed up and showed out! He fulfilled a promise to Isaac, Nina, Keith and Cynda. Keep it up Vanessa Miller! I will definitely finish this series!
