The marriage of Mona and Shawn Black was dominated by infidelity and lies. Now the drama that nearly tore them apart seems to have passed on to the next generation. Their children, Alex and Ashley, are in their second year at UCLA, and life is not simple for either one of them. Now that he knows Shawn Black is not his biological father, Alex is busy searching for the identity of his birth father. Unbeknownst to him, his sister Ashley seems to have inherited a destructive trait from this mystery man--using people's secrets to get what she's unwilling to work hard for. After the death of his lover, Wallace returns to California. He's on a mission to reconcile with the family that threw him out when he was eighteen, as well as to uncover information about his deceased partner. Who was the real James Parks, and why did he come to such an untimely demise? Wallace discovers shocking secrets that reveal a connection with James that he never knew he had. College professors Grace and David Andrews are a married couple keeping secrets from each other. This is no run-of-the-mill marital infidelity, though. David doesn't know that his someone-on-the-side shares a painful link to Grace's past. If the truth is revealed, it could send everyone down a path to certain devastation. One man has had a hand in the fate of every one of these characters. His actions have resulted in the dismemberment of three families. Now that the loose ends have begun to unravel, will any of them be able to pull their lives back together?
Author M.T. Pope hit the literary scene in the Fall of 2009 with a knockout debut novel titled Both Sides of The Fence through the Publisher Urban Books/Kensington Books. M.T. Pope's thoughts of his first work of fiction are that of edginess, exploration, but effectiveness in getting people's attention on widely overlooked social issues. Both Sides of the Fence was also pegged as shockingly realistic and over the top by his editor, publisher and many, many readers. Deeply filled with drama, suspense and graphic scenes, Both Sides of the Fence is a novel that doesn't disappoint the reader. M.T. Pope goes on record to say that with his first book 'either you're going to love it or hate it. There's no in between'. He doesn't get disappointed when a reader says 'it was too much' for them. He understands that not everyone will like it or finish it. He continued his literary career and penned Both Sides of The Fence 2 & 3, which were released in 2010 & 2011. These two novels were just as successful as the first novel, even with a little less rawness within. Each one these have different plots and messages, but all are conjoined to hold a larger, impacting message; the message of communication, faith, family, struggle and cohesiveness as a unit. In the spring of 2011 M.T. Pope was approached by bestselling author, Anna J to be including in an exciting anthology entitled Erotic Snapshots which was released that May and continues to be successful. In the early summer of 2011 M.T. Pope was approached by his publisher for participation in an anthology entitled Don't Ask, Don't Tell. It was centered on the now repelled law by the same name. Again, M.T. Pope tactless the issue like only he can; Drama, suspense and ultimately, resolution. That work of fiction was released in the spring of 2012 and is successful as well. At the end of 2011 M.T. Pope released his first independent selection; an e-reader short story entitled Don't Drop The Soap. He also completed his fourth full length novel, A Clean Up Man released in Fall 2012 In late Winter M.T. Pope gathered together three new and aspiring writers and presented another anthology titled Boys Will Be Boys in March 2012. The following month of May he released another novella entitled Stick Up Boys, which is his semi-street life based fiction. It remains one of his favorite works of fiction to date. M.T. Pope also began work on two short novellas entitled, Lost Pages of Both Sides of the Fence 1 & 2 of which Vol. 1 is being positioned for release in the late Fall 2012. He has also begun completion on his next full length novel, May the Best Man Win, to be released in 2013. New novel and story ideas are always popping into his head, during conversation or simple observing people. New and exciting things are in the future. He hopes that you will join him there. His works of fiction has been seen in XXL Magazine, recommended in Carl Weber's novel Big Girls Do Cry and The Man in 3B. He's done numerous phone interviews, blog talk shows and e-magazine interviews. M.T. Pope, is a born and raised Baltimorean. He was born into a large family with nine brothers and sisters. He's worked as a landscaper, movie theater concessions worker, an over the counter medication manager for Wal-Mart, pharmacy technician for Wal-Mart and a bookstore manager for Urban Knowledge Bookstores. M.T. Pope loves to eat and cook. He enjoys action movies and getting a good night's sleep. He is an introvert by nature, but his writing speaks otherwise. He likes to write the drama but living it is for other. He likes meeting new people and getting in a good, meaningful, and enlightening conversation with strangers. He feels like he can learn anything from anyone given the opportunity, even if it's what not to do. He can be reached at the outlets. Often times people say that things are better left unsaid or left undone. That couldn't be farther from the truth in this book!! Although this series had some crazy scenarios, it also has some real life lessons. Don't let your loose ends ruin you. Nicely done MT Pope. That was a great way to wrap it up and tie things together.
Some parts were very gross just like in the first two, I only read just to finish out the series, which was full of drama, but had the element of redemption in the end for the main characters. It was full of typos throughtout, his editor should have been fired.
it took 3 books for us to get to a character that's actually likeable and wasn't turned on by sexual abuse and/or incest.
credit where it's due - the author's writing did get better. he actually set up a twist in this book. but there's still a lot that comes out of left field and too many of the characters are unlikeable Wallace and Alex are the first two. characters in this series that displayed some agency. Ashley's storyline was pointless outside of the obvious connection but it wasn't needed at all.
everybody is related to everybody. the 1 degree of separation makes everything cliche and easy to figure out.
Another great book in the series. I just love this series and already have Book 4 of the series ready to read after reading this one. I just can't put this series down. All of the plot twisting and finding out about the characters. M.T. Pope delivers a great read.
Whew this book was filled twists and turns. I am not sure HOW Mr. Pope came up with the storyline for this final book in the series???!!! There were several WHAT DA HELL moments!!! You really need to read book 1 & 2 before book 3 although he does avery good job of bringing you up to speed. I am giving this one a 3.5. At one point I had to get a pen and paper to link all the drama and characters because it got to be too much to put together in my head...lol! Good job Mr. Pope, I look forward to reading more of your work!
Wallace had sold everything and moved back to California in order to learn more about his family and the family of his deceased husband James. Little does he know that the families are linked by one common denominator.
Alex is searching for his biological father's family and digs up even more secrets from the past.
I will go out on a limb and say that book 3 is just as good as book 1…if not better! I could not put it down until I got to the scandalous end. This is definitely a series that I would highly recommend!
M. T. Pope has done it again, providing a entertaining book that has readers flabbergasted. The characters in this book were off the chain like the previous books in this series. DNA is a powerful thing and children often follow in their parents footsteps. This book is worth reading and the twists and turns will blow readers minds.
This Book was good. I enjoyed it. I really didn't want it to be a part 3 but when I saw it was one, you know I had to read it! All I can say is DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA! Thats what this book and all the other ones had to offer....It was good read!
Part 3 took the cake... Wallace, Grace, David, Ashley,Alex were connected in many ways... Ashley is blessed to be alive her ways could ended her life like her dad
