Savannah Ross is a singer brought in to do the national anthem for a rugby match where she has a wardrobe malfunction and is rescued by Ethan Alexander, a disfigured former rugby player and all around bad boy. He rushes her through the city of Rome to escape the paparazzi (who are inexplicably after them) and back to his dark and dreary palazzo to hide out. There, she does her level best to seduce him in to taking her virginity. He puts up a fight, but inevitably succumbs to lust and love. But he doesn't want to drag the sunny and positive Savannah into his grim, macabre world, so he sends her away. But she is determined to heal him and love him no matter how hard he fights.
I'm not sure how to describe what happened here. I give this story credit for having an absolutely original beginning and it intrigued me enough to get me started on the story. But I got lost somewhere afterwards as I tried to figure out why they were racing through Rome and why the paparazzi were chasing them and why Savannah wouldn't shut the hell up. Savannah is clearly a girl who doesn't know what a boundary is. You don't go asking a man you've known for 3 hours how he got his disfiguring scars...nor do you steal into his private bedroom to confront him about it and then refuse to get out when he screams at you to get the hell out. She was so determined to "fix" Ethan that she was horribly rude as a guest. I just couldn't fathom her behavior. Ethan spent the bulk of his time getting justifiably angry at her gumption, yelling at her to "get out" and "leave" or just trying to get away from her. She was like a terrier that wouldn't let go of a bone. It irritated me as much as it irritated Ethan. So why, oh why, did he even like her? And on top of that, these two had no chemistry. So suddenly they're having sex and it just didn't compute. These two were a mess together. I don't think Savannah loved Ethan - she just wanted to heal him, like she tries to heal everything else in her life. The author tried to show her as loving and big-hearted, but it felt more like she was being a doormat and trying to please everybody so they'd like her. Now that being said, I did like Ethan. I kinda felt like his behavior was totally justified throughout the story (other than falling for Savannah) and I liked his gruff, grumbly attitude. He deserved a better heroine.
Another issue I had with this story is the crazy confusing timeline. A chapter or section would end and then start up somewhere else and it would take a minute to orient myself to when and where it was happening. There weren't any smooth transitions and it made the whole story feel rushed. Especially there at the end when Ethan is adamant that he'll keep Savannah out of his life for her own good and then suddenly he's changed his mind and he gives in to her demands. And we never see any thought process or monologues to understand why he's suddenly changed his mind. And then boom, the story was over. And I found myself wondering, WTF did I just read?

This book had one of the top two WTF did I just read plots of any HP I've read. There was some serious Vaseline smeared on the lense through which you had to read this thing. So wildly improbable I read with my month open. Super rushed, odd, no character development. The whole thing suffered from wonky time effects. Did it really take place over the course of a couple of hours?
loved this story! Ethan is terribly scarred after a incident and you don't discover why or how until the ending but wow what a punch it gave. Savannah is a curvy beauty with a voice of an angel and she and the hero meet as her outfit has a blowout live in front of a stadium full of people as well as the television audience.... he whisks her away similar to a James Bond escape which made him even more appealing... he is damaged and she is naive but together they are perfect... sigh.. one of my favorites!
Apalagi endingnya sebelum epilog, tah lah, selesai begitu saja
I quite disliked this one. The heroine is written like she was so sweet and everyone loved her, however I really disliked her. It was like she was a mixture of damsel in distress (which was annoying because she did the obligatory no let me go and so he was like fine save yourself from paparazzi then she's like no you can't leave me, that annoyed me so much) and then she had a I can save him mindset and turned lights on in his house (that annoyed me that everyone treated lights being turned on like such a big deal, he even almost kicked her out for turning on lights WTF). I was even more annoyed that after he tried to kick her out that she begged him to change his mind (begging is gross to me). Np.
To be fair, in the beginning I really liked the thwo main characters. However, as the story unfolded there were so many holes and unfinished thoughts. Too many unrealistic actions by the heroine. I did finish the book but i had to skip so me spots that dragged in. There was a lot of unfinished thoughts and actions that the reader is supposed to fill in. The writer has a good sense of banter amd action and just needs to tie it in with dialogue and the thought process of her characters.

This Story Has A Fabulous Concept, And A Great Start However It Idled Way To Long In One Screen That You Would Think The Writer Fell Asleep Writing It. If It Had Progressed Better I Could Have Enjoyed It Better, Not Much Romance.
I got introduced to the romance world reading the graphic novel of this book and went into the actual book itself eventually. I was originally just into young adult and popular fictional reads, but this was an opening to a door that has now led me to the romance reader I am.
Sebenarnya ceritanya bagus tapi beneran gak tahan sama karakter ceweknya, baru pertama ketemu udah bilang cinta, baru kenal, statusnya jd tamu dirumah orang tapi dah sok tau bgt,sok ngatur orang lain, pake ceramah panjang lebar nyuruh orang buat berubah, lebay bgt lah.andaikan karakter ceweknya gak nyebelin pasti bakalan dapet bintang 4
An okay read. It had a charming sweet innocent heroine, Savannah and a sexy brooding scarred hero, Ethan and an amazing getaway scene, fun dialogue, and some sweet passion. But there was just something missing from the story, maybe it was the poem like sex scenes or the speed in which their love occurred - not totally sure what it was missing, just not as well written as her other books. Ethan was like the beast: dark, scarred, a loner, tormented by the past, and deamed unloveable but still voted most beddable by the females of the World and admired by the males. Savannah is like Belle: sweet, innocent, but sexy, she brings light and joy to his castle, and is out to save her man by banishing his demons, and freeing him from the past so that he can love her. Was a charming read just not the best from this author.
I liked the premise of this story - who doesn't like a modern take on Beauty and the Beast? - and I enjoyed the opening very much. It was daring and fast-paced...and in Rome!
However, too much of the story was spent with the hero and heroine arguing - him being harsh and she trying to wear him down with love. It was a little hard to buy, and in the scene leading up to the first sex scene, a little too long.
That said, I did find a couple of chuckle-worthy lines of dialogue, and a few sparks of that warm sensation you get from reading about two people falling in love. I won't rule out reading Susan Stephen's work again.
Ethan comes to Savannah's rescue in her time of need. In saving her, he may have just saved himself. Savannah hopes that with her love, she can help Ethan overcome the scars of his past.
I am so sick of this meme (and really idea in society) that if a woman has a good body she is ALWAYS sexually available and that if she doesn't have sex with a man than she's a horrible tease. Whore or tease. Like those are the only choices. Sigh. Just angry.
My initial view on the book was spot on. I think the plot was interesting but it should have been written differently. The transition between scenes weren't smooth and in some cases the scene description could have used more detail
I have one phrase to summarize this book: wasted potential. Read it and see if you agree. Everything was there, but it just didn't work. Maybe the author was rushed?
