Between Us Two
In this follow up to Between Us, Matt is back from Gatlinburg and Jason is thrilled that they can be together now. He's ready to see if they can become a couple for the long haul. It seems that Matt feels the same way, so things should be fine. Well, until the police think that Matt has kidnapped a child from the school where he works. It hits the fan and there are many things to be sorted out before they can get down to building a life. Matt falls for Jason's two dogs, Jock and Audrey, and the photo shoot takes place, as promised. It's autumn and the area around Nashville is beautiful. Matt and Jason's love is a beautiful thing, too. Their love is strong, but can they work everything out?

Between Us Two is the sequel to Between Us but can be read as a standalone. Matt and Jason first met in Gatlinburg at a fair where Matt, a photographer as well as a teacher, was selling his photographs. Jason, who is a musician, was on vacation and the two men hit it off right away. Discovering that they lived close to each other they decided to continue seeing each other after getting home.
As the story opens the guys are finally getting together again and both are looking forward to it. Although they've only known each other a short time they haven't been able to stop thinking about each other. When they do reconnect they have a great time as Jason introduces Matt to his two dogs, Audrey and Jock, and then things heat up as they spend the night together.
Due to their jobs they don't get to spend as much time together as they'd like but they manage to make whatever time they have special. However things get complicated when Matt begins to suspect that Frankie, one of his students, is being abused. When the little boy runs away Matt comes under suspicion but luckily everything works out well in the end.
This story is trademark AKM Miles. The characters are likable 'everyday' men and their developing relationship is well written and interesting. The addition of the two dogs and the cute little kid might have resulted in a too sweet story but the author maintained a good balance and the story never strayed too far into cute. The sex scenes in the book are well written and very hot as well.
The one thing I didn't like too much about the story was the quick and convenient resolution of Frankie's situation. However, since the story itself is only 89 pages long I think it probably couldn't have been done differently. Aside from that I really enjoyed the book. The author's engaging writing style made Between Us Two a sweet treat to read and I look forward to more of Ms. Miles books in the future.
