This book is a compilation of the stories of ten different people who were sincere seekers of the truth. Some of them were even raised in Christian homes but as one writer said, found it to be "boring" (at least in the church they had attended). The common denominator between all of these people is that they turned to methods that promised a higher consciousness, or enlightenment. Many were children of the 60's where drug use was rampant to help obtain this state of being; however, the sincere truth seekers soon realized what havoc this was wreaking on their minds and bodies so stopped doing that but continued seeking other methods of obtaining a high.
What was fascinating to me was the insight into what these methods (TM, New Age practices, Far Eastern religions, etc) actually do and promote. This information is coming from people who have actually been on the inside and even had become leaders of these methods. Lot's of interesting and informative information. Some even intentionally deceive about what their practices really are . . . yoga, for example, has been touted as a harmless relaxation method that anyone can use when in fact it is more than that. You will have to read to find out . . . !
