Southerners Do Not Row

Rate this book
The back cover of the book humorously warns readers that this book has no redeeming social, political or intellectual value. But if you want to read a "laugh out loud" book about a Southern boomer's attempt to get back into shape, this book is for you. The author, a committed non-aerobic type, realizes after a trip to the doctor that he is going to have to get back into shape in order to control his weight and blood pressure. He choses the sport of rowing- a sport in which his wife excels. The author details his first year of flips, failures, and frustrations with a sport that has a unique set of training and rituals. The book will appeal to all weekend warriors, not just rowers.
