We Are SO Crashing Your Bar Mitzvah!

Rate this book
Stacy Friedman has just had the most awesome summer of her life. At camp, she and her best friend, Lydia, met a girl who trained them in all things cool, like how many black plastic jelly bracelets to wear and which teeth-whitening strips work the best. Equipped with this new knowledge, they’re set to make an unforgettable back-to-school debut.

Unfortunately, Stacy and Lydia aren’t the ones turning heads at Jefferson Junior High. Their clothes, makeup, and hair are totally wrong. Instead, everyone clamors around their other best friend, Kelly, who has transformed from not so cool to so very cool in three months. Stacy and Lydia are happy for her, but shocked when Kelly gets super cozy with Kym and her popular clique, the Chicas. Worst of all, Stacy and Lydia are the only ones NOT invited to Eben’s Hollywood-themed bar mitzvah.

But Stacy refuses to accept their social blacklisting. So she decides they should crash Eben’s bar mitzvah. Though they risk being reduced to a Marni Gross-level of popularity, it is the only way to reclaim their status as eighth-grade It girls. Before the party ends, Stacy and Lydia will have gone undercover, posed for paparazzi, and faced off with the Chicas. They’ll also find out exactly who their true friends are…and aren’t.

Hi. I’m Fiona and I’ve written two books that should be displayed up and to your right. No, your other right. There you go. They’re books for Young Adults and I enjoyed writing them both and wonder if I’ll ever return to Stacy Adelaide Friedman, Lydia Katz, and Kelly Mooreland.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a little juvenile at times because it was written for a preteen, not someone my age but once I started reading it, it was so hard to put down! I liked how it touches base on some of girls biggest problems of middle school. Eight grade is a really hard time for girls and everyone wants to be that popular "it" girl and there is always a group of intimidating girls that you hate but secretly want to be a part of. Everyone is competing with everyone else to have the best looks, stuff, and attitude. Lydia and Stacy thought they had it all, but their friend Kelly actually did. She became so popular and was invited to the Bar Mitzvah of the century. They then plan revenge on their once called friend and crash the Bar Mitzvah. It was really funny and story moved quickly and was simple to follow. I would recommend this book to girls because it is mostly about girls and their conflicts and solutions.Pick it up and read it today! (:

We Are So Crashing Your Bar Mitzvah is a story about a girl named Stacy and her friend, Lydia. All the summer before 8th grade they have been coming up with a new style, preferably to impress Kym and her group of friends. But Kym isn't really interested in them as a friend, she's interested in their other friend, Kelly. And to makes matters worse Lydia and Stacy are the only ones not invited to Eben's Bar mitzvah. Since they are the only ones they decide they should crash. This book was interesting and would probably interest people of the age group that the girls are. I would recommend this too people in middle school because they might find it funny or relate.

Exhale. Okay. This book, in my opinion, is not a Young Adult Contemporary novel. This is more in line with a Middle Grade book—in both tone and style, along with the age of the main character and her friends. This was light to the point of foolish frivolity. Chiefly, ignoring the fact that the storyline was absurd in many parts throughout, my problems point to two issues with the book.

First off, the entire novel had that unbalanced feeling you get when an adult tries and misses the target of writing in a younger person's voice...in this case, an eighth grade girl. There were times when the slang used by one of the characters was delivered and reacted to in a way where I wasn't sure if it was supposed to sound wrong, because of this character's falseness and ineptitude, or if it just did sound wrong because of Rosenbloom's chosen cadence, vernacular, and delivery.

Everything about the characters was blurry and smudgy—flat, static characters to rival Snow White in Disney's adaptation. There was little to no character development, and everyone felt one-dimensional and cardboard. The only people to get true story arcs were a handful of secondary characters—not our narrator. Fixed characters with an erratic storyline and oddly delivered dialogue made this story feel pointless and aimless.

However, I tried to take into account that I am well beyond the target age range for this one, and though I didn't find it to be a charmer, that's no reason to smack it down to just one-star—so I gave it one more.

This book shows how not all popular girls are nice. I definitely know that from experience! Stacy and Lydia learned how to be cool from a girl at camp, but when they start eighth grade they both saw Kelly has changed too! Stacy and Lydia are NOT invited to Eben’s Hollywood themed Bar Mitzvah , and Kelly is now so close with The Chicas. Stacy and Lydia try to keep Kelly away from the Bar Mitzvah, but when that doesn’t work they crash the Bar Mitzvah and see who is truly their friend and who is not. But the ending of this book is not what happened to me… for me I became hated by the popular girls for no reason at all!!!

SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This book was pretty good. It was fun to read. It could completely happen. The main character makes a lot of mistakes including something that ended with her having no friends for a day. To try and get one of her friends back, she diguises herself, but her cover is blown and she is utterly embarrased. She spends all her bat mitzvah money without permission. In the end she learns her lesson and gets her friends back, but it's kind of cookie cutter.

It was good, don't get me wrong but just cliche. The characters were very similar to most middle grade girls novel so you can really guess what will happen straight from the start.
Other than that, easy to read, quick, and cute.
Not bad.

It might get annoying for you because It's teeny boppy, but girl this book had 10 year old me gagged and lowkey gave me actual realistic expectations for high school. I just remember this being funny as hell but was sweet in the end. It was an enjoyable read.

This book is about two girls, Stacy and Lydia, who have spent the whole summer at summer camp getting ready for 8th grade- they even had a high-schooler help them out! They are ready to come back to school more prettier and popular than ever. They go to a party the night before school only to figure out that their best friend, Kelly, has been hanging out with 'The Chicas'- a group of snobby popular girls- all summer long.
Then, a boy(who's very rich and popular) declared that he was throwing his Oscar-themed Bar Mitzvah in the next month and that everyone who got either a special necklace/pin was invited. Stacy and Lydia didn't get one, but the Chicas and Kelly do. That's when it's time to get down and dirty. Lydia and Stacy decided to CRASH the Bar Mitzvah.
Will thay get caught? Will they become popular? I can't tell you, but if you read the book, you'll find out.
While reading this book, I learned that being yourself is more important than fitting in.

Is going to the party of a lifetime real worth it? What if your whole world fell apart because of it? Would you still go? Stacy and Lydia learn throughout the book “We Are So Crashing Your Bar Mitzvah” learn about the meaning of true friendship and what doing the right thing really is. Throughout the book Stacy and Lydia have to go through problem after problem to get into a party that they were not even invited to. In the end Stacy and Lydia change their school and the way people think and act forever. Stacy is a 13 year old girl who just had her Bat Mitzvah and is very determined, while Lydia is smart and always thinking about their next actions. Stacy and Lydia are usually hanging out at Stacy’s house or school, and at one point a party. But what Lydia and Stacy don’t know is the party would change their lives forever. My favorite parts of reading the book were the humor, the story itself and how easy it was to relate. Although those features are nice I did not enjoy the descriptions and thought they could be more descriptive. All in all I would give We Are So Crashing Your Bar Mitzvah a four out of five stars.

This book was great .In the beginning when the new school year had started Stacy and Lydia thought they had everything it took to be cool. But it turned out that they were the two losers at school since they were not invited to Eben's bar mitzvah. They crashed the party and got caught playing dress up with wigs. Everyone started gossiping about how desperate they looked and Lydia and Stacy felt really embarrassed. They didn't know what to do to overcome this mistake they made. Then came Yom Kip purr and Stacy realized that it doesn't matter about popularity and fitting in with the Chicas. Instead just stay true to yourself and be a good friend. Stacy came up with a plan to save Kelly from her fear of kissing Eben. Eben and Kym kissed each other instead and they were cousins so that was nasty. In the end everything seems great. Aurthur,Stacy's dorky brother has somewhat of a girlfriend. Stacy meets a really cute funny guy Oliver and her mom is dating Alan.

At first I think the story of this book is like or better than to the first book i've read (You are not So invited to my Bat Mitzvah) but when i read that Stacy Adelaide Friedman and Dante Decosimo broke up in the very first part(in the prolouge).. it seems like the book is not interesting to read (SO not worth it and SO awful to read.. OMG)... because, i love Stacy && Dante tandem.. i really felt bad because i'm expecting that there would be MORE sweet, more exciting, more thrilling moments between them..unfortunately, there were not.. So, for Ms. Fiona Rosenbloom if u will publish a 3rd book be sure that it will be interesting and worth it to read... (it is better if Dante Decosimo will back in the 3rd book)MY GOSH! it will be appealing to the readers.. (for me)... anyways... i adore you for writing the first book.. it was really breathtaking story.. GOOD JOB! :)

Stacy and Lydia return from summer camp, stoked about their new fashion look and looking forward to sharing it with best friend Kelly as well as getting an in with The Chicas, a trio of “it†girls at school. But life doesn’t go as planned: their fashion look is all wrong, Kelly alone seems to have been fully accepted into The Chicas’ fold, and worse, Stacy and Lydia have been snubbed for invitations to Eben’s bar mitzvah, the party of the year. They scheme to get invites to the party by recreating good times with Kelly, brownnosing The Chicas, and finally, outright crashing the party with socially disastrous results. At Yom Kippur, Stacy realizes that just because people don’t like you doesn’t mean you’re unlikable. Practicing being a good friend and being herself are more important.

We Are SO Crashing Your Bar Mitzvah! is by Fiona Rosenbloom. I didn't really like the book because i couldn't relate to it. This book talk about being in middle school and how your changing along with it but the whole plot and characters just didn't applied to me, they talk about trying to be the "it" girl which I find super annoying because it what everyone now a day try to be in middle and high school but they don't understand that once your in college no one is gonna care what you were back then. The main setting take place in New York City with Stacy, Lydia, Eben, Kelly and The Chicas. The main conflict of the book is that Stacy and Lydia wanted to be popular but when they are the only one that aren't invited to Eben Bar Mitzvah, They decide to crash it. I wouldn't really recommend this book if you are trying to be yourself during middle school.

This book is DEFINATELY going on my favorites!
It made me laugh and even almost cry! It's truly amazing!
WARNING: there are some bad words in this book, but they only really start to appear by the end!
And they really are only small bad words!
I love the way the book is written, kind of like a young girl's diary, but not at the same time.
It has a great life lesson and life experience of a young teenager learning the ropes of life, friendship, and social-ranking.
The life lesson of this book, I feel, is, keep your friend close, and accept who you really are.
p.s. This book contains strong Jewish beliefs, if you are
not "ok" with reading that sort of material, close the book and
put it back where you got it. Thanks!

I enjoyed reading this book. This is how I would summarize the book. When Lydia and Stacy return home from summer camp, they have a brand new look that they think will make them best friends with the popular girls, the chicas. They worry about their friend Kelly who has been slightly overweight. When they arrive at "first night", they find out that Kelly has been hanging out with the Chicas, and looks super beautiful. During first night, a snotty rich boy, Eben, hands out invitation to his bar mitzvah, and Kelly gets one, but not Stacy and Lydia. Well, Kelly keeps hanging out with the Chicas, and soon they fear that they will lose their friend. In a drastic measure, they decide to crash ebens bar mitzvah, by wearing disguises.

This was an amazing book, there is some things about a Jewish religion but is about a group of girls going into eighth grade. The girls go threw a tone of drama with their best friends and the popular girls. This book is centered around the party of a life time and they are not invited, deciding to crash the party everything goes wrong. This story reaches an amazing climax and continues on to solve the problem with everyone ending up happy. Stacy getting her friends back, new friends, and a boy friend. I loved this book it is very inspirational to 8th grade girls and I would recommend it to anyone going thew tought times in middle or high school.

Mike and I were listening to 70s music in the car this weekend and it brought back memories of awkard middle school dances. Of course the dances I went to were not anything like Eben's bar mitzvah!!! Had they been I'm sure I would have wanted to go more than anything. That said, Stacy and Lydia crashing Eban's bar mitzvah in the manner they did seemed a little far-fetched. I'm not sure 12 and 13 year old girls could pull that prank off...but then again...

Overall a cute story about being yourself.

This book was so good! It is a bit for teens and Has 4 or 5 bad words but other then that it is great! This book is about a girl named Stacy and her best friend Lydia went to the best summer camp. Just when they thought they were really cool, there other best friend, Kelly, joined the most poopular group, the chicas. When Kim's (one of the popular girls)cousin is having a bar mitzvah, and Stacy and Lydia weren't invited (but Kelly was) they decided to crash it!

I thought this book was pretty annoying. When I read the first one I complained about the main character's lack of maturity, and this is just more of the same. The main character tells ridiculous lies throughout the book which constantly get her into trouble, and the way they all talk grates on my nerves. The characters are 8th graders, but I think this book is suited more towards around 6th grade readers.

Great message about choosing and keeping friends. Dialogue is a bit overdone on the contemporary teen talk, but once you get past that, the characters are likeable and the keeps you turning the pages. While the outcome is expected, there are also some surprises. I enjoyed it and would definitely recommend.
