Surfing Guide to Southern California

Rate this book
This is a true surf classic. It is the first ever guide book to California and was done in 1963 when the coast was still uncrowded and pristine. It is still very accurate in that the coastline has changed very little although the land has been overrun. Check out the classic longboard photos.

love it for some esoteric but slightly outdated descriptions of socal surf spots. love how spot names have changed since the 60s and enjoyed the rare writing about surfing around the channel islands. suffers from the same sexism we see today in 85% of surf writing, so docked a couple stars wee woo
