What was in the water in Hitterdal, Minnesota (pop 201) in the late 50's and early 1960's that prompted two talented writers to emerge from that blessed hamlet?
I don't know the answer to that question since I've never been to Hitterdal, but I do know that Gerald Anderson has, in "Death Before Dinner" plopped us down in Minnesota Norwegian culture and written a murder mystery that can stand along side of Alexander Campbell in giving us an authentic setting and believable characters.
In addition, the writing style is lyrical and descriptive. I throughly enjoyed this novel, and intend to read the rest of the series, not to mention await further creations.
And the other talented writer from Hitterdal? You'll have to solve the mystery, but you won't have to look far.
