This was a very well written book. True story, a little hard to follow at times. Haunting, with all that is still going on in our world

"Covenant Love & Death in Beirut" - Sad to say, this 1989 book is no longer in print, but I'm happy to say that I have two copies! I have read this book so many times, I've lost count. When it was on bookstore shelves it was in the Current Affairs/Political Science section. Because of that I think it was overlooked by many people. This is one you will want to be able to say that you've read it and have a copy in your library.

Inside flap: "Here is the story of one of our time's most enigmatic and fascinating figures: Bashir Gemayel, assassinated president of Lebanon. It is an investigative tour de force set against the drama of war-torn Beirut, told by the award-winning television producer and journalist who first broke the Karen Silkwood story. And it is a passionate love story."

This book is available at amazon as a used book, and it is worth the hunt or you can click on the link below! Once you have it in your hands and open to the first page - you won't want to put it down. It is a riveting eye-opener full of suspense and danger and yes, it is also a love story. At one point in the author's life her picture was up in the Beirut airport with the message that she was to be shot on sight!

The only few books that talk deeply about the Lebanese Civil War. Barbara Newman lived the events by going back and forth from Tel Aviv and Beirut. Also, She had a strong, deep relationship, as she claimed, with the Lebanese "Christian" Forces Leader and Former President Bachir Gemayel. I highly recommend this book, if you're interested in Lebanese Civil War. I tried to reach Newman but the latest thing related to her was on 1989.
