The goods were here for a great One Night Stand - Mark was gorgeous in an arrogant way that actually worked, Julie was innocently sexy, and their chemistry was palpable - but it just never came together. The reasons both of them sought out Madame Evangeline's services were absolutely absurd, even for erotic fiction!! A playboy who has his pick of women to sleep with is cornered and dared by his buddies and a virgin who is "inconvenienced and embarrassed by her hymen" ( I could not have made this up if I tried) does it because she simply doesn't want to be a virgin anymore. HUH?!?!? It wouldn't take either one of them an astronomical fee or a night in a 5 star Vegas hotel with a stranger to accomplish said goals. And then to make matters worse, Miss Incredibly Nervous Innocent Virgin is having sex like a porn star in no time flat. I realize it's a short story and events need to unfold quickly, but come on!! However, if you can get over the absurdity of this pairing, their hot 'n sweaty won't disappoint.

I swear. I should know better than to read these novellas and expect the HEA that I want! Damn it. If you've EVER read any of my reviews, you know that more often than not I need that confirmation that everything all worked out. Even though I know they got their happily ever after - I need PROOF!! I need it spelled out for me in black and white. I can't just be expected to use my own imagination to picture how everything plays out AFTER the last page! I mean - I'm the READER! I have to use MY imagination?? What the what? But seriously.....
Even though it left me wanting more - I loved this novella. It tells the story of Julia and Mark. Julia somehow managed to graduate from college with her virginity intact. At this point, she just wants to get her cherry popped and be done with it. She's tired of it holding her back. So, she consults this website called 1NightStand.com and arranges for (you guessed it) a one night stand with a hot playboy type. She didn't tell the site she was a virgin.....thinking that would be breaking rules or something.
So, she goes to this Vegas hotel to meet Mark. Mark is the hot guy that rarely sleeps with the same girl twice.....he is, as the kids say, a player. He's usually seen with the overly blonde, fake breasted women. He joins up with the 1NightStand.com site on a dare from his friends. Who knew the dare would lead to Julia - who turns his world upside down in just a few hours.
Y'all, when I say the sex is hot - I mean it is H.O.T. Crazy hot monkey bed sex and even hotter monkey shower sex. And not only that, Mark and Julia actually make an emotional connection. She's real in a way that the women he usually dates are not. (I'm not just talking about boobs.) Julia is sweet, honest, and genuine. Mark - who you want to think of as just a doucebag - really isn't. Even though he is (was?) a player.....deep down, he is a nice guy who just never met the right girl.
This is a super quick read that will only leave you wanting to know more about Mark and Julia. It's sexy and sweet and has a lot of heart, considering it is an erotic novella. I loved it......I just wanted more of it.

My reading slump continued last week with The Virgin and the Playboy by Kate Richards. This was a quick read, but the premise was so ridiculous, the book crashed and burned for me. In theory (it's bad when I start a sentence that way), this had potential to be a good concept for a story. A woman (Julie) tired of still being a virgin decides to hire a company to de-flower her. The company doesn't actually de-flower her, an escort sent by the company is supposed to de-flower her. (Of course the company's name is 1NightStand.com....heh heh). Anyhow, Mark is the ultimate playboy. He enjoys a different hot supermodel every week in his bed. Mister Experienced, Mister Player, Mister...well, Playboy! His friends dare him to join this 1NightStand group, and he gets paired with Julie.
Normally, I like very fast-paced stories. These two meet at a hotel and get right to it. No fooling around! However, I had two major problems with this book. One, I hate stories that take instant sexual attraction and mega-boinking and make the characters fall for each other emotionally in the blink of an eye (or the flutter of an eyelash, or the bob of a......never mind). Second, I find it EXTREMELY hard to believe that Mr. Playboy-Gets-More-Action-Than-Hugh-Hefner is so totally blown away by the sex with this inexperienced virgin, that he is completely smitten with her immediately. Not buying it. One night stand with inexperienced virgin = the best sex of his life = I must see her again. I don't think so. I think this premise could work with a longer story, where there is time to develop an emotional connection between the characters, but as a quickie it just didn't work for me.

This book should come with a warning -- cold shower needed after reading! Hawt? You betcha! And Kate's descriptive writing is 100% the reason for how hot this book is. This definitely comes under the hot-little-quickie-that-will-have-you-quivering genre!

The books is great, how could she pretend that she had experience but her motion told she hadn't?
I always laugh in that part.

It's like this. I found a promo email from Decadent Publishing about the latest 1Night Stand titles while I was in the airport last week, and The Virgin and the Best Man looked irresistible. Well, my resistance was down. Waking up at 5 am to catch a plane will do that to me.
The 1Night Stand series is a not-so-secret vice, and the heroine is a librarian. (But still, virgin? Never mind.) As the sequel to The Virgin and the Playboy, I let the Best Man and the Playboy twist my arm into buying the first book. Quick download in airport (I love my iPad with 3G).

In The Virgin and the Playboy, Julia Hooper signs up with Madame Evangelista's 1Night Stand service to get rid of an "inconvenient accessory," as she terms her virginity. She's out of college and has reached the point where not having already "given it up", the questions she faces from any man she dates about why she hasn't have reached beyond inconvenient. So she signs herself for a one-night stand with an experienced man who will show her the ropes. She wants a playboy who will know what to do, and who she assumes she won't like.
Mark turns out to be a sweet guy who has reached the point in his life where an endless line of nipped, tucked and fashionably chic (also model-thin) women, all alike has become boring. Julia is refreshing and natural and above all, real.
Together they discover an old truism, that it is difficult to make love without feeling at least a little love. They both feel a lot. They discover what they've both been missing. The story is short and surprisingly sweet for what it is.
One year later, Mark and Julia are ready to get married, and they invite their best friends. Did Julia's best friend have to be a virgin too? And a librarian? Stereotype much? (I digress.)
Mark and Julia sign their best friends, their best man and maid of honor, up for 1Night Stands. It worked for them, why not pass along the gift? So to speak.
Mark's best man, Ray, is a pilot who really doesn't think very much of himself. And Karin, poor Karin, is a small-town librarian who acts as if she signed a morals contract when she took her job. (Real-life librarianship isn't like this. Honest!)
Where this story takes flight is when these two lost souls start to tell each other their hopes and dreams. Karin wanted to be an astronaut. She studied for it, she had a scholarship, but her parents guilted her into setting her dreams aside to take care of an aging relative. Her spirit has been grounded ever since.
This story is really about Karin finding another way to learn to fly.
Ray needs to take a chance on himself. He needs to believe that he's good enough for someone to love. Both of these people are wounded, and they need to believe in each other.
The fun thing about this story is that you're never 100% positive that either of them was the intended 1Night Stand for the other. They take matters into their own hands and make things work the way they want them to.
And they fly off together into the wild blue yonder.

My Thoughts:
A very well written short story. I usually don’t like when there’s only few pages on a book but this one was a bit addictive and I was actually looking forward to the end and to find out if they were going to be together. Crazy right?
This was a good surprise. Julie wanted to have what every other girl does, a normal sexual life the only problem for her is her virginity. So she hires a company specialized in dates as the said 1 Night Stand.com.
Mark is a normal guy who dates a lot, and his married friends consider him a womanizer, and truth is he’s kinda happy with his life and his friends dare him to join the same company Julie did.
They never met and only dated with one propose in mind (sex), so these two actually met in a hotel in Las Vegas (perfect place!!) and is kinda awkward in the very begging since they don’t know how to proceed but once one kiss is shared is like everything is set in motion and they have chemistry together.
The sex scene was very good and I liked how sweet Mark was about her virginity, another plus. In the end I was hoping the story could go on, since it was very good.

This my second novella from this author, and I have to say I'm not impressed. It's like she was in such a hurry to get to the end that she forgot to add any character development. The MCs fell flat and honestly had no chemistry. The playboy is cocky, signed up for a 1NS for an unbelievable reason, and really should know how to talk dirty. I'm not sure if it is just the author or if she meant him to sound stilted and oddly formal. The virgin seemed to just zone out and give just as equally ridiculous responses, although she might have a slightly better excuse. The sex happened after only weak hellos, which I don't normally have a problem with, but the chick's a virgin and he's kind of an idiot for not figuring it oUt. The sex was lackluster and the playboy's maudlin reaction didn't fit. The story ends on only the possibility of a HFN, but of course it is hard to believe even that is possible when these two know next to nothing about each other.

Julia is nervous but determined not to let Mark find out shes a virgin, because she fears he will call it off. If you like short stories then I would definitely recommend this book. I enjoyed it a lot. The story line was cute, the writing was great and I loved Mark and Julia.

If I had to use just one word to describe this tale it would be YUMMY. The interaction between Mark and Julia is electrifying. I could practically taste the sexual tension that was building between the two characters. The sex itself was hot enough that my eBook reader pretty much fogged up with all the steam these two were giving off. The way the story ends allowed me to see that while it could have been just a one night stand tale without any emotions, Ms. Richards made it far more than that.

I had been reading stories from this series as I found them before I realized there was an order. Basically, I am late to the game on this one. What a fun and enjoyable contemporary read. Once again, Madame Eve weaves her magic and connects two people who would have never found each other on their own. The characters were easy to like and their chemistry together was sizzling. I absolutely loved the last paragraph. It really showed the spirit of this series, which is so much more than a 1 night stand. If you are looking for a short, hot read with a hint of romance, this is a great choice. This series really is my newest guilty pleasure.

VERY SWEET BUT SMOKIN HOT!
I loved this book but it was way too short. 79 pages are definitely not enough. The ending is very abrupt and left me wanting more and hoping for a sequel but finding nothing was very disappointing. The chemistry between Julia and Mark is off the charts HOT! Mark was a very gentle and caring teacher. Julia was sweet and innocent but a fast learner and left him wishing for and wanting more. I recommend this book to everyone if you're looking for a good sweet sensual sexy story.

Julia came off as sweet from the get go. I actually felt bad for her for being so innocent. Which sounds strange but the longer you go with your "V Card" the more difficult it can become (sometimes).
I loved how aw struck Mark was with Julia. Being coughs off guard made him likable. I normally don't like player types in stories cause it usually leads to infidelity which makes the guys a jerk and the girls weak or a door mat.
Their connection wasn't as developed as I would've liked and I wanted the story to go a little further. It was cute, fast, but ended to abruptly for my liking.

This was an Awesome read for a short story. This story is about a virgin who is ready to do the deed and get it over with. This way she can join the rest of her friends who have a sexually active life. She hires a 1night stand service and asks for a play boy to do the deed with. Mark is doing this because of a bet with friends and signs up to do this one night stand with a woman who doesn't know him. His friends thinks he will chicken out. What happens in this room is love at first sight and hot hot sex that will scorch your eyebrows off. This short story is entertaining and worth the dough.

I thought the characters were very real and delightful. I love that a jaded playboy can be taken down by a delightful, real woman.
And, it does happen in real life, as well. How many times do we see Hollywood stars marry ordinary, plain people, after all. And, they are usually the ones who last!
And loved the end.

WOW!! I wish I could have lost my virginity that way!! I don't want to spoil the story, so it makes the 1NS series difficult to write a semi-decent review for.
