This was a really lovely book, if the children had not wanted me to finish reading it to them I would have finished it on my own. It is easy to read but doesn't skirt around difficult subjects either. We went through many emotions whilst reading this book, there may have been tears as well. I definitely recommend it!
It wasn't until I began to read this little book that I realised it was an adaptation of Jon Katz's book A Dog Year. (I had picked it up from the adult section at a charity shop) Still, it was very readable but I will look out for the adult book as I am sure it will it will contain far more about Jon's eventful first year with Devon.
Like Marley and Me, I loved this book, but I feel it had pretty much the same basis. Despite being similar, it was perfect and had that air of real life emotion that the author felt, which truly worked for me.
