Diva-Licious

Rate this book
Taryn Blaze is the reigning queen of rock-n-roll. An ultimate diva who's never been refused anything or anyone--until the hunky security guard doesn't show at the prescribed time, dressed in the white silk boxers her assistant had delivered to him. Outraged, Taryn does what she always does when she doesn't get her way--she throws a tantrum. Derek Abrahms, a locally hired security guard, is thrilled when Taryn notices him, but instead of recognizing him from her past, she orders him to her hotel room for a night of lusty passion. Determined to teach the diva a lesson, he does what no man has ever done before--he denies the goddess. When Taryn unleashes her prima dona temper, can Derek remind her of the sweet girl she once was? Or is his Diva-Licious just too wild to tame?

The world is a lonely place without romance. It took me too many years to figure that out, but now that I have, I hope to infect others with its splendor. I’ve always loved the paranormal -- vampires, demons, angels, were-creatures and more. I also love a spicy tale and writing stories that are both has been the greatest adventure -- beyond parenthood and marriage -- that I have ever embarked upon. Sharing it with you makes it all the greater. Come visit me at www.forlorn-hope.net

What a little gem my Brindle is! ;) Taryn and Derek went to school together 7 years ago. Taryn, way back when, was your normal awkward teen as was Derek. Derek crushed on Taryn but she was oblivious of it...

But give them a few years...

And now Taryn is the hottest singer everyone is seeking attention from and Derek is 100% muscle and a sexy body guard! When their paths meet again and Derek notices Taryn isnt the sweet shy girl she used to be so he decides to bend her over his knee (literally) and show her whos boss!

Can Derek find his once high school crush in this woman full of ice? And can Taryn learn to trust a man when normally all they want is her money?

I loved this story...so hot and steamy! My only complaint...I WANTED IT TO BE LONGER! lol I wish we really couldve dug into Taryn and her changing from witch back to a sweet gal! And Derek...he was so cute after he confessed his long time crush on her! LOVED IT! ;)

Taryn was one Diva-Licious broad. In fact I’m not so sure I liked her in the beginning. But I loved Derek from the get go, his personality was the perfect offset to bring that diva down a peg or two and remind her how to treat others. I swear I thought she was going to go ape shit when her wishes weren’t granted, and went back twice to reread her response at being rejected.

Had I known it would bother her on a more emotional level right then, I would’ve sympathized, but I didn’t.

I really enjoyed Derek and his moral code of ethics. It’s great to see a man work hard to get what he wants in life, instead of finding an easy way. Makes what was achieved more substantial. His long time crush on his diva was splendid and he sure knew how to handle her right, to show her the girl he once remembered, the one he fell in love with all those years ago.

I was truly tickled by this read and simply loved it, heroine included.

Diva-Licious appealed to me because I adore a storyline where a glamorous, jaded woman is hiding someone who is really vulnerable and all it takes is the love of a good (and of course, extremely hot!) man to bring it out of her. What also caught my interest was that the aforementioned hunk knew her, and loved her, before she became the glamorous and sexy diva. Throw in that Brindle Chase was the author and I was hooked!

First, I want to start off by saying that I am a fan of Brindle Chase’s writing. I have read another book by her and was enthralled by it from literally the first page. So I really wanted to fall in love with Diva-Licious. Unfortunately, that did not happen for me. Taryn is a world famous singer who sells out stadiums and she knows her own power. I think is where everything took a wrong turn for me. I already knew she would be a little obnoxious, but for me as the reader, she was unlikeable; and it happened quickly. I thought to myself, “Okay, she has to be a tough nut to crack, all the better for when her (hot!) love interest enters the picture”. But to my disappointment, I just could not like her! Enter in Derek, her blast from the past, even though she doesn’t recognize him. Initially, she treats him like a sex object and I could not help but feel that he really should have played harder to get. Then when it did get down to him showing her a lesson (Whoo-hoo! There was some spanking involved!), I did not feel the intimate chemistry. There was plenty of physical chemistry but I wanted to feel some intimacy and connection especially since Derek had loved Taryn way back when she was an awkward girl, but regrettably I was just left cold. Don’t get me wrong (please don’t get me wrong!) the love scenes were steamy and erotic. But, as a reader, I did not feel the romance. Taryn’s likeability factor did go up several notches as the story went on, but I stilled failed to really bond with her as the heroine I want to root for; I just wasn’t feeling it.

Yet, Diva-Licious is an extremely well-written book. Brindle Chase did not disappoint when bringing the sights and sounds of a world famous singer’s world to a vivid reality for the reader. The dialogue between the characters was at turns humorous, stinging, and touching. I recommend that readers try this book out for themselves if for no other reason than it is always a joy to read a book that will give one an escape from the real world for a while. And who knows? Some readers may disagree with me….it has been known to happen…on occasion…

3 1/2 stars.

This is a short story about Taryn, a very successful singer who's nothing less than a DIVA! When sexy security guard Derek, refuses to bend to her will and meet her in her hotel room Taryn demands an explaination why. Instead, Derek takes matters into his own hands (literally) and shows Taryn there is more to life than just Diva status. And how does he do this you ask? By way of spanking it out of her of course! During their hot and heavy love fest Taryn realizes that she wants more out of life than just one night stands and flings with groupies. She wants commiment and Derek is just the man to give it to her.

The problem I have with short stories is that I'm ALWAYS left wanting more. I'm never left feeling "complete" at the end. I kind of felt this way in this book. While I have to give credit to the author (the man knows how to write a hot scene) I'm left feeling like something was just missing from this story. This is also a contemporary which I admit isn't my usual genre of choice. Over all the story was pretty good. HOT HOT HOT love scenes and characters that actually had some depth to them. This is definetely an author that I will continue to read.

LynnMarie’s Review

The title of the book caught my attention, but I had no clue what to expect. Diva-Licious is a quick erotic romance. Taryn, a million dollar singer, and her bodyguard, are an unlikely pair. Taryn is a classic diva and expects her every whim to be catered to without question. Derek is from Taryn’s past. Though she was his childhood crush, he can’t accept the spoiled woman she’s become, even if she is gorgeous.

I liked Derek’s character. He was real and couldn’t be bought and sold like Taryn’s other employees. Even though she redeemed herself later in the book, I couldn’t sympathize with Taryn.

The book was well written in parts and mechanical in others. There was some hot sex and a happily ever after for the characters. Derek was able to teach Taryn a lot about herself by not giving in to her wishes, rather dominating her sexually.

Diva-Licious is a very quick, unique romance that entertained me.

A quick read and a loving story of finding your love after years apart.
Taryn Blaze is a successful Rock star and a diva at that. Everything she wants she gets.
Derek Abrahms has loved Taryn (Terry) from afar since high school. Too shy to get the nerve up to ask her out and then she's gone. 7 yrs later and his love for Terry is still strong. Hoping for a chance at love again with Taryn, Derek secures a position as security at her hotel door. As Taryn approaches all she wants from Derek is a one night stand and demands that he be told to be in her room in one hour.

Will Taryn figure out who Derek is and give up her heart or will Derek just be another one night stand amongst the many?

I know I am in the minority but I can't believe this book is getting 4 and 5 stars. I would give it a 2.5. The story is unbelievable, the characters fall in love in the span of an hour and don't even get me started on the press conference. Like I said I am in the minority here but I think if this is a 4 and 5 star book then I need to stay away from these short stories.
