A great children's introduction to the life of George Washington. Graff acquaints readers with young George Washington, his work as a surveyor, how he acquired Mount Vernon, how he became a soldier, his part in the French and Indian War, his marriage to Martha Custis, his leadership in the Revolutionary War, the Constitutional Convention, his work as President and last years at Mont Vernon.
Readers are introduces to: Governor Dinwiddie, Fort Necessity, the Declaration of Independence, Valley Forge, the Battle of Trenton, the Constitution, and more.
I gave it five stars for how well it provided an introduction to our Founding Father and our then fledgling nation. Easy to read. Illustrated. 80 pages.
read this book in 30 mins lol its a quick read geared towards very early readers. since it was printed in 1960, there are a lot of commas missing from the rext, but rules may have been different back then. the facts seem to be in order, except perhaps the reason for washingtons death, but all else seemed correct.
I inspires every of Washington's words. I belief his quote "first in war, first in peace, and first in the heart of his countrymen" that all comes life of the world is. Wishes he revives present.
