Amazing read - found myself mad at the characters, yet thrilled to turn the page.

Possibly the best historical novel ever written in the English language, set during the English Civil War and its many twists and turns. Its compulsive obsessive hero is mesmerising.

Couldn't finish it. The protagonist was so hateful and devoid of any interesting qualities I found myself wishing he would die and we could wrap things up. Ugh.
