I hated the premise for this story, boy stands girl up at the alter to chase his dream, comes back after 10 years, (without ever a phone call, or letter in all that time) to pick up where they left off. If the book had not been given to me, I would have definitely passed on this storyline. So I guess I went in already a bit on the negative side. I've never seen such a weak female lead in a story as Marcie, she was so passive, it made me want to stop reading, where was her anger? no matter what Zack asked of her, she agreed to it. I would have been praying...Lord, please give me the strength to not do him great bodily harm, instead of the sweet prayers she was throwing his way. Since I'm no quitter, I was at least hoping for a nice Epilogue to this story, didn't get it, and it sure could have used one

The first book is The Family Next Door and that story is about Zack's brother, Joe. They are stand alone books but if you enjoy series you may want to start there. The third book is called Rocky Point Promise.
These three books look to be the first for Love Inspired but Barbara McMahon has been a familiar name with over 80 books published through Harlequin. For the complete listing of her books check out fictiondb.
Can you trust someone who broke your heart 10 years ago? Do people really change or does God change them? Marci never married and became a business woman with her own restaurant in her home town. Rocky Point Reunion by Barbara McMahon is another feel-good romance by McMahon, picking up where Rocky Point Legacy left off, although it is a stand alone read.. Zach Kincaid is home, he says for good. Pretty much everyone else doubts it. Marcie is happy running her restaurant, having gotten over Zach's last minute cancellation of their wedding so many years ago. Zach's brother Joe and his fiancée, Gillian are in the midst of moving Gillian from Nevada to her home here in Rocky Point so they have left Joe's seven-year old daughter in Zach's care...for weeks...totally out of his element. He needs help and of course, Marcie loves Jenny and so helps him out of concern for her. Can there be a future for them?
Barbara McMahon writes Christian Romance. Does that mean she doesn't write a compelling novel with good characters and realistic plots that keep readers turning the pages? It certainly does not. Rocky Point is a pleasant little town but not without its problems and problem citizens. It's not the life for everyone, though. We met Marcie in the previous book as well as Zach, for just a moment but here we got to know both of them much better. Mostly what we discovered is good but McMahon's characters are not without their flaws. Life isn't necessarily smooth for her characters but generally things work out for the best. People find God and one another. What's not to love? I recommend this book on a day a reader needs something uplifting. You will find what you need in Rocky Point Reunion.
I received a free ARC of Rocky Point Reunion. All thoughts and comments contained herein are my own.
Marcie owned the cafe in town. Coffee and latest gossip was on the menu. Zack, ten years since she had last seen him, the lounging, the sound of his voice, He had a chance at his dream back then and he took it, racing in Europe. For her she never wanted to leave Rocky Pointe. He wanted to apologized , she was always busy at the annual picnic at the beach. Coming home Zack reconnected to the Lord, helping his brother, and being kind to his father.Learning to help others, the fatherless teenager Marcie wonders could she step out in faith, she trusted God, and this seemed the direction she should take. Seeing a white picket fence around his family home, now his, she had the answer. A story that centers on a small town, everyone knows one another, the plans, the hurts, with faith and their church. Beautiful story of being welcome back to the town and people, while learning to step out in faith. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
This is very much a Christian story, and one that takes us back to Rocky Point. This time, the story belongs to cafe owner Marcie Winter and Zach Kincaid. If you read the previous story, Rocky Point Legacy, you met his brother, Joe Kincaid. Marcie and Zach were HS sweethearts who were about to get married until Zach called Marcie the night before the wedding and told Marcie he couldn’t get married. He leaves town and a devastated young woman . Ten years later, he returns home to help his brother. Now a famous Gran Prix race car driver, he wants to make amends. But past hurts are hard to forgive , especially when promises were broken in the past. Will they get a second chance, or will the past hinder their HEA? It’s a story about faith, love, friends , hope and home. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Marcie & Zack were engaged until Zack broke it off the night before their wedding. He’d received an offer to race cars in Europe & couldn’t pass it up. He knew Marcie wouldn’t want to leave Rocky Point. Now that he’s back, he realizes he still loves Marcie. She’s stayed put, purchased the diner & has made a success of it. Their chemistry is still there. Will they find a way to be together or will he go back to racing & Europe?
This was a nice sweet read. I enjoy the town of Rocky Point. The small town atmosphere & the close knit relationships add to the story. Jenny & Sean add an emotional depth that I did not expect in this story. There were several diverging plot lines that kept the reader interested & involved. This is a great story & a good addition to the series.
Marcie is holding on to her anger at Zach for the last ten years. She lets it mar every current interaction she has with him. They were both young, and she was determined for her dreams to miraculously appear, without thought of what he wanted. Even when he brings this up, delicately, she still inky thinks of her self. I do wish the ending would have been different. No one, not Marcie or his brother, would believe him and take his word he would return. Him not fulfilling his contract can have severe consequences. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Another excellent book from Barbara, this is book 2 in the Rocky Point Series. Truly an exceptional read, wonderful plot with in-depth characters from her first book turning up here and carrying on with their story. The main ones here are Marcie and Zack. A second chance romance the grips the reader's attention on every page. You feel you are part of this story because it's spellbinding Had me glued to my chair throughout the whole book didn't want it to end..Looking forward to reading book 3!
Over the last ten years, Marcie has worked hard to get her life in order. Now she runs her Cafe and has great friends. Then Zack returns to Rocky Point saying he has changed and wants a second chance with Marcie. But can Marcie trust Zack with her heart, even though he shows signs he plans to stay. Zack is trying to start over in his home town, and wants a second chance with Marcie. His big dreams which he left town for are no longer that important. Can these two find a fresh start?
Zack returns and he knows what he wants - Marcie. She still loves him but is so afraid he will leave again. Loved how he pursued her and never gave up. I thought it was funny how she encouraged him to go see her dad. I love second chance romances but at first I didn't want Marcie to reconcile with Zack but time does change things.
Two stars because Macie made something of herself after being left at the altar. Zach however, was dishonorable. He didn't honor his vow to marry her when he was young, and as an adult he didn't honor his contract in racing. He's quite the disappointment.
I set a new speed record for reading when I came to Barbara McMahon’s “Rocky Point Reunion”. I read it in 15 minutes.
The story concerns small town girl Marcie Winter who is pining for her high school sweetheart, Zack Kincaid, who left her at the altar to become a race car driver in Europe. Now he’s returned to Rocky Point, Maine, and Zack asks Marcie for a second chance.
Now, if I were 18 years old and in love with Zack Kincaid, I would have married him (even eloped) and lived in Europe while he raced cars for 10 years. Then we would have returned to Rocky Point and started a family. Which is what an intelligent person would have done. Instead, we get a heroine who martyrs herself for her family and who will, in all probability, fine somebody on Facebook in the future and leave Zack because she’s never really seen the world that exists past the end of her driveway.
I am utterly, completely sick of this tired trope of small town life beats big city life. Can you imagine the fun of living in Europe in your 20s? The sights you would see: Venice, Paris, London? Anybody who thinks that living in a town with one stoplight and a diner is somehow better than living in a vibrant city with culture such as museums, art, and theater needs to pull their head out of their ass. Read it only if you’re bored.
This is just basically another Love Inspired story with about the same plot as many others that are edited by the same company although with a few things thrown in to make it different such as the setting and the other conditions that the protagonist couple face.
Although the community of Rocky Point seems like it would have been beautiful to live in for at least some of the time and the near intimacy of small town life for those who enjoy it, there aren't really much details given. Basically the background is just given as basically a paragraph or two in the whole story while being left to the audience's imagination.
Second of all the lack of detail and true development of the characters was also another problem. True the story is sweet, sometimes cloyingly so, but there is no actual depth to the characters. The whole book seems to be dedicated to them fighting the same ideas in their heads then rejecting what they have been given, then tossing out really awkward seeming prayers and repeat almost constantly. And although some of the secondary characters seemed to have a bit more of a bone they were eventually retired once their job was done.
For those who like the series there may be a chance to redeem the book but for those who need a bit more substance to their reading life this should be a pass-on.
What a sweet story of the prodigal returning to the woman he loved and left. I enjoyed it very much. This author is one I consistently enjoy for her multi-faceted characters and beautifully written stories.
Marcie Winter has her cafe' and a broken heart from 10 years ago. Zack Kincaid, professional race care driver, is now back in town. Will he stay or will he go? Will he break Marcie's heart again?
