Luxuria
Vampires and mortals, love and lust; these things usually don’t make good combinations. Though, in Luxuria, they all come together to make one enthralling and captivating story. Nicci Sefton creates a world between the living and the undead from which a love story unravels. Because Nicci was 17 when she wrote this literary work, she was better able to relate to her characters and draws from her own experiences to make the story more lifelike.

to write something everyone could relate to because its human nature, but I knew no one would listen to
them if it was just about a normal high school boy or girl because it’d seem too tangible, but I knew if
I put some kind of twist to it and exaggerate the sins’ scenarios it’d have adventure and thrills that will
draw people in and make them listen. Henceforth, why they are vampire books. Wither we like it or not
vampires, today, seem to grab our attentions everywhere we go and who better to teach us about sins then,
what some people seem to call them, the very essence of sin. They know better than anyone what these
deadly sins are capable of and our excellent teachers

This was a fantastic book. It was a vampire romance novel and even though there are so many of them out right now, this one was especially good. The teenage perspective was alot better than most books because it was actually written by a teen.

This took me two weeks to read. There was a jump in the "vampire" mythos. I wish it would have been a slower discovery. I liked the mystery in the beginning. The middle half just floundered around. It was tough to get through.

A book about vampires for the YA audience
Teenager falls in love with a very attractive vampire. Eventually the love is reciprocated. A decent story, but could use some editing help.

Nicci is a great friend of our families, but past that she is an extraordinary author! I loved this series and am currently re-reading it for the 3rd time! Definitely recommend reading this and Invidia!!!

He will be sharing classes with Annabell Crystal, one of three exceptional sisters who have enslaved Madison Prep High with their beauty, charm and talent. Derrick is instantly captivated by Annabell, and the attraction could be fatal. There are rumors about the dazzling Crystal sisters, and it doesn’t take Derrick and his new friend, Paul, long to discover the truth about them: they are vampires, trying to co-exist in a mortal world.
Roxanne, a student whose boyfriend disappeared after attending a mysterious party thrown by the Crystals, has done her research. Emotionally crippled by her loss and suspicion, Roxanne offers plenty of insight into the family’s dark secrets, and evidence of Annabell’s truly monstrous past. Derrick gains access to her diary, and learns almost more than he can bear.
Nothing can stop his growing affection, however, and, despite serious misgivings about having a relationship with a human, Annabell finally comes to love him. Paul is equally besotted by the sardonic and lethal Precious, Annabell’s petite blonde sister, and encouraged by Derrick’s success, quietly pursues his dangerous crush.
Nicci Sefton began writing Luxuria, the first book in her Deadly Sins Series, as a high school sophomore, finishing it in her senior year. This gives her writing a definite viewpoint advantage, and her limited third person narration is buoyant and sprinkled with direct address, making her voice fresh and very natural. She also produced the dramatic and sensuous cover-art. However, closer style editing, grammar, syntax and even spelling, would improve the work.
The story and characters are very closely influenced by other, best-selling vampire novels; at times uncomfortably close. This resemblance to other works is balanced by Sefton’s inclusion of several pages of Annabell’s diary, which tell an interesting history in a quick and effective way. These passages of historical fiction are strong and passionate, and the book is strengthened by them.
Though familiar types, Sefton’s characters develop as the novel progresses, and they are attractive and lively. The violence and sexual content is very mild and the novel is well suited to younger readers, who are just dipping into vampire literature. The sequel, Invidia, was published directly following, and many of the rough edges were improved.
Contains: mild sexual content and mild violence.

Annabell Crystal is a 200-year-old vampire, who leads her covenant in a quiet and normal life; as quiet and normal as a vampire’s life can be. She hides a dark past, and continues on with the belief that she is a damned soul that does not deserve happiness.
Derrick Clark is a new student at Madison High that has no family and lives with his adopted guardians. When he first sets his eyes on Annabell, he can’t think of anything else. Though, he does not know what he would get himself into.
Nicci Sefton enjoyed creating this book and the world it contains. She has already written her second book, Invidia, which will be released on Halloween. Nicci drew on some of her experiences as well as research and a bit of creativity to make this story as real and inviting as it could be. Nicci hopes that this book as well as the rest of the series will do well. “When I write, I’m in my own world that I have created, where no one can hurt me... The reason I wanted to publish my books is so I can invite other people into that world. It was getting a little lonely.”

When I first started reading this book, I didn't know that it was written by a teenager. It was very easy to read(almost too easy to read) and after a few chapters, I came back to Goodreads to find out more about the author. She wrote this while she was still in high school! I'm glad I found that out before I finished the book and dissed it in my review. This was a good story but it lacked depth. Some scenes made no sense but others really pulled me in. The dialogue was awkward at times, and the grammatical errors often made me have to read a sentence two or three times to understand what the author meant. Overall, I'd say this book was good...for a high school author.

This was a great book. I got it from my dads coffee shop after Nicci Sefton visited for a book signing. Anyways I really enjoyed that it was from the boy's perspective almost the entire time and how real the characters were. The plot was interesting and creative, going into the backgrounds of the vampire coven. All I can say is good job Nicci.
