This manga continued on for at least nine more volumes in Japan, but this volume published in February 2022 is the last one Udon translated in the US, so our journey together ends here.
At first I wasn't terribly impressed with it, but as the cast and the details of their lives expanded, it drew me in more. The idea of a Japanese pub making its corner of another world a better place is very much in keeping with an isekai. Rather than a power fantasy, here the idea is in service to building community and strengthening bonds between people. Or maybe even ensuring world peace? Well, maybe it doesn't go quite that far.
The characters themselves aren't particularly deep, and I tended to forget them if they weren't in the story for a little while. Nobu's staff, Shinobu in particular, has an intuitive grasp on what any given customer needs to eat at the time they come into the restaurant. Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name, you know?

My favorite story in this volume is Hans getting to create a new dish for Nobu.

I really enjoyed seeing Hans' and Effa's families outside of Nobu. I appreciate all the references to past subplots and seeing the new local rice used in dishes.
