I love this book, for real. Mr Bennet is my idol, and how Lydia could be so foolish and impolite. Mr Darcy and Mr Bingley are the love of my life.

Lovely condensed version of P&P. Many of Jane's famous words have been altered, but each sentence packs a punch. So much of the original story is all there with altered phrases. Excellent for reading with a younger person for their first experience with the greatest novel in English Literature. I am excessively diverted!

I'm still looking for Mr. Darcy. Of course, I'm endeavoring to be Elizabeth Bennet, too. I can't wait until my daughter is old enough to read this book.

No siempre la primera impresion acerca de las personas es la real. Me gusta como en esos tiempos las personas muy educadamente ponen en su lugar a quienes se lo merecen

Although I give it two stars, that doesn’t mean I hate it. I found it bored me.

I enjoyed almost all scenes that included Mr Darcy, the conflicts toward Elizabeth - and her back and forth responses, Mr Bennett’s insight etc.

The story seemed to drag, the style I found laborious to read and the lack of character development, I think, stopped me from liking any of the characters.

I think this book is just not my cup of tea, at all. And I felt as interested in the goings on of the snooty proceedings, as much as Mary Bennett did.

’𝙄𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙩𝙝 𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙖𝙘𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬𝙡𝙚𝙙𝙜𝙚𝙙, 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖 𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙡𝙚 𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙞𝙣 𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝙖 𝙜𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙪𝙣𝙚, 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙗𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙖 𝙬𝙞𝙛𝙚.’ The story centres around the Bennet family - Mr and Mrs Bennet with their 5 daughters, the beautiful and gentle Jane, the clever and witty Elizabeth, the bookish Mary, the immature Kitty and the wild Lydia. Mr Bingley and Mr Darcy, both wealthy and single, come into the Bennet’s lives, with Mr Bingley taking a liking to Jane, and Mr Darcy, while initially considered Elizabeth ’𝙩𝙤𝙡𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚; 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙚𝙣𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙚𝙢𝙥𝙩 𝙢𝙚...’ and Elizabeth felt contempt towards Mr Darcy, the two seem to put aside their prides and prejudices and fall in love.

One can see why this classic novel is so popular - Jane Austen’s writing is delightful to read; tackling number of themes on love, marriage, status, women in society but in a humorous and characterful manner. It is an easy and fun read, which can be enjoyed over and over.

A modern reader reading this book may find the subject of the Bennet girls finding a rich man to marry and settle down a bit contrived and anti-feminist.

Wonderful writing, and fun and delightful characters. Definitely a keeper on my bookshelves.

I know this is the kids' version and I read it in a day, but I thought it was a hopelessly predictable love story. I don't really understand why it's such a "classic" novel. I guess I'll watch the movie and see what may not have been included in this book adapted for children.

Gave me hope and inspiration, incentive to find surly, witty, and RICH husband. Hopefully one with ridiculous sideburns and a british accent. Will settle for nothing less.
