Blind Spot

Rate this book
Good news doesn't come at 4 A.M. The call that comes in the predawn stillness of a warm Los Angeles night shocks Ariel Gold awake. A friend has been blinded. The assualt on Laya is brutal, the result tragic, the method insidious. The LAPD thinks it's a case of product tampering, with the "unlucky" Laya a random victim. Ariel's not so sure. As a correspondent for the TV newsmagazine Open File, she is in a unique position to satisfy her doubts. As a friend, she won't quit until she has. But the claims of friendship, Ariel soon finds out, can prove complicated -- and dangerous....

As all of Mercer's books are, this was a quick and interesting who-done-it. There were several different mysteries going on at the same time. I can't wait until the next in the series (I hope there is one!)

this book was disappointing for me. it would have flowed better with better editing. as it was there was too much detail about inconsequential events and people. i doubt if i'll read any more from this author.

I really enjoyed the four books in this series. I wonder why the author stopped writing. Cannot really find anything about her.

Author really crammed every type of odd ball situation in one book. Person who can only remember the last year of her life and no one has noticed, a blinded yoga teacher with 6th sense, the long lost twin sister who is murdered and the discovery of the very wealthy grandfather, etc. etc.

I really enjoyed this book. It keeps you guessing until the end. It appears to be the last in the series with these characters and I wish that there had been more.

Laya is a great character in this book, while she was mentioned in the earlier books, you learn a lot more about her in this one. I also really enjoyed Hattie. Several of the other charcters from previous books are only mentioned in a few chapters, but it was still good to read about them again.

This book has been in my TBR pile for years, so I figured it was time to see if it was worth the storage. There are actually two ongoing plots. Investigative TV show reporter Ariel's yoga instructor and friend, Laya, is blinded by tampered eye drops, and Laya believes she was deliberately targeted due to a crime she witnessed. The other plot involves the questionable death of a married couple from Ariel's unremembered past. I must confess, I hate the amnesia plot and here it unexpectedly reared its ugly head. Ariel uses her investigative skills to find answers to both plots. I liked the writing style, but I felt like the book moved slowly. I never got grabbed by the story and it took me three weeks to finish the book. The fact that its part of a series didn't bother me, the author filled in the back story well enough that I don't think I missed anything. Am I compelled to read the other books in the series? No. Was it worth storing for years before reading? Shrug. It was an ok read that never really grabbed me... Maybe it was the wrong book to kick off my TBR cleaning

I had previously read this book before I realized there were 3 that came before it. I must say, out of the 4, this one was perhaps the better of them. Still, even reading it a second time, it just did not have the suspense I was looking for. From the first book to this one, much of the time, the reader is left confused, wondering where the story is going. There was so much left out that would have enhanced the story. When there was the threat of any danger, there was no build up to it. Was someone outside the window or door watching or listening? There was no suspense leading up to maybe there was a person outside. There was much wondering why Ariel, who has amnesia, can carry on with her every day life and work without many wondering why there was such a change in her. These 4 books took me longer then normal to read them because the story line just didn't hold me. I kept reading them hoping they would get better. But, not really.

Overall disappointing and somewhat stupid. It’s actually well written and the characters are interesting, but the plot is absurd with endless coincidences and unbelievable events. AND *spoiler* how can she possibly get away with no answer to WHO and WHY about the first crime when the book is called Blind Spot? Seriously?!
