A USA Today Bestselling, award-winning author, Michele taught herself to read at 3 years old because she wanted to write stories so badly. It took some time (and some detours) but now she does spend much of her time writing stories. Mystery stories, to be exact. They're clean and twisty, and range from psychological thrillers to cozies, with a dash of romance and supernatural thrown into the mix. If that wasn't enough, she posts lots of fun things on her blog, including short stories, puzzles, recipes and more, at MPWNovels.com.
Michele grew up in Wisconsin, (hence why all her books take place there), and currently lives there after spending nearly 30 years living in the mountains of Prescott, Arizona, with her husband and southern squirrel hunter Cassie.
When she's not writing, she's usually reading, hanging out with her dog, or watching the Food Network and imagining she's an awesome cook. (Spoiler alert, she's not. Luckily for the whole family, Mr. PW is in charge of the cooking.)
I really enjoying this series but Becca gets on my last nerves. Its like stop acting so naive. I wish she quit self doubting herself and start believing in herself more. Start listening to the voices. She make a lousy amateur sleuth. But overall I really enjoy it.
I'm not sure what to make of this story. A couple things didn't make sense/weren't adequately explained. For instance, Fire Cabin. What was it? Was it a mental construct? A real thing? A hallucination? It was not explained at all. And you won't find it or any mention of it in the previous books. It was just dropped into the story out of the blue. My second gripe..... I've never in my life read a book (or even met a real person!) where everyone seems to spill/slosh their coffee out of the cup as many times as they did throughout this book. It was overused and tiresome, tbh. I'd say the story itself was ok... If I could've gotten past all the repetitive words and events. Oh, speaking of. Thru out this entire series, Becca wakes up, sweating and sticky and tangled in her sheets. This book alone must've repeated this at least 8 times. There's a ton of repetitiiom and very little actual story UNTIL the last couple of chapters of the book. Basically, you could skip to the near-end of the book and you'd learn more about everything than the whole rest of the book tells you.
Becca goes for a walk, meets a stranger, falls and finds a body. That's just the beginning in this twisted tale of Redemption. As her friends begin to think she is losing her mind, Becca knows what she sees and hears is real. I was awake till long after midnight because I had to know what happens.
Twist and turns cor sure. The plot thickens with new characters and new pieces to the puzzle revealed. Redemption is one town full of mysteries going back to 1888 when all the adults disappear and people have continued to disappear to this day. Will all be reveled in the next book in this series.......I can't wait to find out !!!
I must admit to being surprised at the way Daniel and Mia have treated Becca. Mia especially has been extremely harsh, and it leads me to wonder how much of a friend she really is. Becca is having nightmares again and that, coupled with being set up, leads one to believe that she may know more than she herself realizes.
After the previous book in this series, I was really not sure what was going to happen. It picks up easily and moves quickly. Quite an easy read because just like Becca, we want to know what is going on. Now I have to start the next book to get all those answers.
3.5 stars. I really like this series but it's starting to get really redundant and a lot of stuff has been left open/unsolved. Hopefully everything will wrap up.
Becca has always known something is off about that room. The one at the top of the stairs. She’d always dismissed what she had heard as rumors, but now, something has changed. And she can’t ignore what’s going on anymore …
