An outspoken autobiography by the Philadelphia Eagles' celebrated scrambling quarterback chronicles his rise from poverty, his experiences of bigotry, and his often provocative opinions about his experiences in the NFL.
This book was interesting for a number of reasons. It described Cunningham's life leading up to and the 1992 NFL season. The book was written during the 1992 season and included details off all of the controversies Randall and the team went through during this time.
Roughly half of the book was written by Randall, telling his own story, while another half intermixed was written by Steve Wartenberg telling other stories that occurred during the time. Unfortunately, too often they repeated each other. The book was written in an extremely simple style which got a bit boring.
Cunningham repeatedly wrote about his finding religion and the impact this had on his life and in the NFL.
The most interesting thing about the book was being thrown into the events of the team (and the world) in 1992. One example - Cunningham repeatedly wrote about O. J. Simpson, who was still just a famous former NFLer at the time.
