The author examines both Russian and rebel tactics and operations in those battles, focusing on how and why the combatants' approaches changed over time.
A decent analysis of the wars from a military perspective. It is interesting to see some parallels between Grozny then and what is going on in Ukraine today. However, the book is lacking when it comes to telling a _story_ about the Russian-Chechen conflict, so if you're looking for anything beyond discussion of military strategy, you won't find it here.
Informative short book if you want to know what weaponry was used. Does not go into detail about the fighting but is more a this group armed with this weaponry, fought this group armed with this weaponry type book. Expresses war in terms of data not in terms of what was happening in battle.
