Phineas

Rate this book
Phineas knows when and where he's going to die, he even knows who's going to kill him. What he doesn't know is how to stop it.

Phineas is a short (2600 word) story covering a very brief moment on the life of an Ordinal. Ordinals experience linear time for brief periods; they have no control over when and where they'll jump next but they've developed ways to manage their lives and remain undetected by Linears.

I wrote this several years ago. I had just finished reading a collection of short stories from the 1930's and 40's. The style might be a bit old-fashioned for some. I had considered altering it for a more modern style but decided that the speaker was from an older time and would therefore speak as such.

The ideas behind Phineas led directly to the full-length novel, Convergence.
