I won this book for free through Goodreeads First Reads, and I would like to review it. Barbara L.B. Storey goes into great detail in these seven tales of love and passion. In these seven short stories, she gets right to the point, and because of this, I felt as though her stories aren't hard to get into, as with some books. Although the stories in this book all share the same theme, they are also all different from each other. I like how the author describes the feelings of each of the characters in her writings. I definitely think that most of these stories can be made into longer novels successfully. The last piece in the book, "The Queen of Heaven, is expected to be a novel published sometime this year. I would be interested in reading the rest of this book.
As I mentioned before, Barbara Storey goes into great detail of emotions and feelings. Her writing also has lines that readers can relate to. I found there to be quotes that I liked that were not part of the romantic aspect of the stories. One in particular I liked was "Sometimes a rest, a break from routine can make work new again. And the petty minds we have to deal with can be left behind too. Sometimes the everyday needs to be cleansed by something as small and quiet as a weekend away." I liked this quote because with being in college, and working part-time I am always thinking of how nice it would be just to get away from everything for the weekend for time to recharge. I liked the way she worded this quote. Barbara Storey's writing captured my attention, and after reading her stories, I will look for her work of novels in the future.
