Barbara L. B. Storey is a writer, photographer, and digital artist. She loves to write, to read, to travel, and is also crazy about baseball. She was born and now lives in Canada, but is a former resident of New York City and misses it very much.

She's also particularly fond of certain book series - The Lord of the Rings, and Outlander - of poetry, historical fiction, mysteries and thrillers, biographies, and history of almost any kind, but particularly art and political.

She has lived several different, interesting lives in both North America and Europe, but through them all, one thing has remained true: creating is essential. Writing or art - as long as she is making something and telling a story, she is happy.

Do you have a few minutes of getaway time for an erotic, yet romantic short story? Perfect Need – Seven Tales of Love and Passionby Barbara L. B. Storey could give you seven days of hot reading that will get your blood flowing, yet warm your heart with the romance of it all. Each short story tells of love, of the act of making love, of coming together with another, even if only for a stolen moment as in the first story, You Don’t Belong to Me. There is some angst, fantasies fulfilled, a little heartbreak, but with each story, there is a rightness to the ending.
Barbara L. B. Storey has painted sensual beauty into each story and it feels as if she is sharing a portfolio of watercolors from the heart. If you enjoy well-written erotica that sidesteps the glitz and shock factor of so many erotic tales, you are going to thoroughly enjoy Perfect Need – Seven Tales of Love and Passion, I did.

This is a short story anthology featuring seven stories about finding comfort and possibly love with another person. All the stories were unique in their own way.

You can either savour each story and read one at a time over time. Or you can binge all seven stories. They are quite steamy and erotic.

A Star, a stone - this was my favourite story in the grouping. It told a tale of two people who thought they shouldn’t be together due to an age gap but came together anyways. No spoilers here but this story doesn’t end the way you think it will. I am hoping the author will write a spin off of this one so we can get a more in depth look at their story.

This was fun to read! A collection of short stories (ranging from 2 pages to about 40). Some sweet, some spicy, all wonderfully delicious in their own way! “Need” is the perfect name for this collection… all of the stories project some form of need, whether it’s physical or emotional, temporary or long-lasting. Great short stories to read when you only have a few minutes or need a break from something without committing yourself to hours of reading or getting too caught up in a book. Definitely one to check out, especially if you don’t have much time to dedicate to reading in one sitting! ❤️

I won this book for free through Goodreeads First Reads, and I would like to review it. Barbara L.B. Storey goes into great detail in these seven tales of love and passion. In these seven short stories, she gets right to the point, and because of this, I felt as though her stories aren't hard to get into, as with some books. Although the stories in this book all share the same theme, they are also all different from each other. I like how the author describes the feelings of each of the characters in her writings. I definitely think that most of these stories can be made into longer novels successfully. The last piece in the book, "The Queen of Heaven, is expected to be a novel published sometime this year. I would be interested in reading the rest of this book.

As I mentioned before, Barbara Storey goes into great detail of emotions and feelings. Her writing also has lines that readers can relate to. I found there to be quotes that I liked that were not part of the romantic aspect of the stories. One in particular I liked was "Sometimes a rest, a break from routine can make work new again. And the petty minds we have to deal with can be left behind too. Sometimes the everyday needs to be cleansed by something as small and quiet as a weekend away." I liked this quote because with being in college, and working part-time I am always thinking of how nice it would be just to get away from everything for the weekend for time to recharge. I liked the way she worded this quote. Barbara Storey's writing captured my attention, and after reading her stories, I will look for her work of novels in the future.

(I received this book for free as part of Goodreads First Reads giveaways).

(This review may contain spoilers).

Sometimes I'm lazy when it comes to reading.

It's not often, but there are times when I don't want to have to think too hard about a story. Even while reading a badly-written book, it's often difficult to pull myself away and just stop reading.

This collection of short stories was really simple to read. The short stories managed to grab my attention - and I thought it worked particularly well that, apart from the last two stories, names were hardly ever used. There was almost a sense of being able to put any face to the characters.

I think that perhaps the story that will stay with me for quite a while is the Shelter one. There was quite a sweet level of understanding between the characters in that particular story.

The first person POV worked quite well for the stories it was used in, although I did notice some similarities with the characters and terminology used. I do think it's probably difficult for different first-person POV characters to come across as such.

The writing was nicely descriptive, which made it easy for me to see what was happening in my mind, though I found the language to be a bit crude at times. I noticed very few errors, apart from the whole 'god' versus 'God' thing. And I noticed that 'Jesus' didn't have a capital first letter, which is worse, since Jesus is an actual name.

I think I would probably check out other books by this author in the future.

Filled with desire and lust, love and longing, 'Perfect Need' is an addictive collection of seven well-written and sensual erotic short stories depicting emotional and explicit physical passion.

The author writes in her introduction to the collection: My stories are explorations of what love and passion can become, how they can affect two people for a moment, or for a lifetime. When they close their eyes, literally or not; when they tumble into a love they never expected; when they decide it's worth the risk to stay...or not.'

This is a story collection that you could read all at once in a couple of hours, or alternatively enjoy one at a time and keep returning to the book for more. I read a few at a time and I quickly found myself drawn into the tales when I picked the book up. I especially liked You Don't Belong to Me, An Unbearable Brightness, and Dolce which features the delicious, irresistible combination of food and passion.

I don't want to write too much about the individual stories because I think they are best discovered knowing little about them before you start reading, so that you enjoy the way the passion and romance unfolds in the different intimate scenarios described. Different to a lot of what I read, I was glad to try this collection and found the writing had an honest quality to it and the author's sense of adventure shines through. If you'd like to read some short erotic, emotional fiction relating passionate encounters with intensity and realism, do try this collection.

*Copy of book provided by the author in return for an honest review*

Perfect Need brings together seven short erotic stories that feel very real. I liken the feel of this book to reading someones personal diary.

This book is well written and is a nice quick read with only 82 pages. It contains characters that are very easy to relate to, their reactions and behaviour to situations they find themselves in is easy to comprehend. There is plenty of emotion delivered from love, lust, angst, heartbreak and even a little drama. The steam factor on these loves scenes is right up there with the best of them.

It took me approximately two hours to devour this book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. If you’re looking for a quick read that is steamy in the romance and realistic in its execution then this book is for you.

I rate this book 4 stars.
