"I'm no longer condemned by the Law of Moses, because the new law of faith operates in my life. I enter this new relationship with God through Jesus Christ and experience the life of Christ, which sets me free from the old Law. This new law of faith in Christ overcomes the effects of the old Law of condemnation."
"For enduring the reproach of Christ, we'll be glorified together. "For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us" (8:18). Paul wrote to the Corinthians, "For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory" (2 Corinthians 4:17). Notice the contrast between "light affliction" and "eternal weight," affliction for a "moment" and "eternal…glory." Our present sufferings aren't worth comparing with the glory to be revealed."
I really enjoyed this devotional about Romans. Reading it with new eyes, it gave me a better understanding of what God wants from me as a believer. God sets a high premie on my conduct and behaviour, and through grace it is attainable. There were times in my life that I have dismissed myself, thinking that I would never come close to do what God expects from me. But once you understand grace then it becomes it clear it is not because of me but because of Christ's offering and example that I can.
I found the teaching sound and to the point and would definiedtly recommend this as part of a daily biblical study.

This book is a blast from the past from my seminary days that I had forgotten was a part of my personal library. As I endeavor to study the book of Romans again extensively with several of my buddies, it was an easy read that came in handy to supplement the other authors and resources that I am referring to currently as we venture through the Apostle Paul's amazing treatise of theology in the New Testament. Chuck Smith, the former pastor of Calvary Chapel in California was fairly prolific back in the day at the start of the Jesus revolution. His commentary in this book published in 1981 is easy to follow and many points I would tend to agree with at least at first glance as I read it again.

Enlightening
This book will open up your eyes even the more about how the flesh vs the spirit affects our sin nature lifestyle. How our carnal mind vs the spiritual mind. There is a lot I could say about this commentary. Mr. Smith has given his experience from time-to-time in this material. He also has other scriptures outside the Book of Romans. He really breaks down the Old and New Covenants, the Law and Grace in such a profound way. I will be going back to this book from time-to-time. I actually have gone through this book twice already. I recommend "The Go s pro According to Grace..." A very simple and easy read. God Bless.

First sentence: You can believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, but not be saved. You can believe that He died on the cross for your sins, yet not be born again. It's necessary to submit your life to Him as Lord of your life in order to have salvation.
The Gospel According To Grace is a free commentary by Chuck Smith (at least free at the time I read it) offered through the Amazon Kindle store. I am assuming this is the Chuck Smith of The Word for Today fame. It is a commentary of the book of Romans. There is a chapter for each of Romans chapters. It mainly stays on task--what the book meant and continues to mean. But it's also got a few stories woven into the text.
I would say it is on the light side of things. Don't expect the weightiness of a theologian like Luther, Calvin, Owens, or even Henry. It leans slightly more towards a devotional approach. It is definitely accessible.
For a free read, it's fine. I definitely am glad I read it.

God ordains some leaders who bungle the job badly. Such rulers become instruments to ripen a nation for judgment. Their mismanagement and injustices totally manifest the country's corruption so that no one questions God's judgment when it falls.
Grace and peace are called the Siamese twins of the New Testament because they're always coupled together. This is the proper order of the two words, for you can't have the peace of God until you've first experienced His grace. After I recognize that the grace of God is unmerited favor, I can experience the peace of God because I'm no longer striving.

Commentary on Romans
The Gospel According to Grace is an easy to understand commentary on the Bible book of Romans. While I don't agree with some of the authors opinions, I found that, overall, it gave me a better understanding of what Paul, the author of Romans, was trying to say.

Another great book! Chuck Smith walks you step by step through the book of Romans and explains in detail how it applied to the early Church, and it still applies today!

A good commentary on Romans by Chuck Smith, although he somewhat passed over the one verse I was really interested in, the that says "thus all Israel will be saved."

This is a word for word commentary through the book of Romans. It goes through each chapter in gray detail, pointing out how the verses apply to a normal persons life. It could be read by a new Christian, or by one who has walked with God their whole life.
The simplistic way in which the author exposure the scriptures makes it tangible and achievable. As the title states, it's theme is the amazing grace which God has upon us.
I recommend this book.

It's a good read. He was a little unclear on a few points as he seemed to believe one thing early in the book, but then believed something else later in the book. I definitely pulled a few things out of it, but I probably won't refer back to it in the future.

Very good but do need to "digest" slowly or it gets to be a little much to process and comprehend fully.

Absolutely amazing commentary. Possibly one of the greatest explanations of Romans 9-11 that I've ever read. Very balanced view.
