This was an interesting read. I loved how detailed the author was in describing Japanese culture and scenery. I felt how powerful and intense it can be. I enjoyed the characters : Mori, Ludlow, Mitsuko, Erika…. Sometimes I found myself daydreaming while reading certain chapters. It dragged in the middle a bit. However the ending picks up and I honestly was left completely shocked. The writing was good and easy to follow but the author goes into a lot of descriptive detail about Japan vs American vs Soviet business, technology, war, my mind often wandered during those parts. Overall a good read but I wasn’t hooked from the moment I started it. Even though there was a murder that had to be solved… Hence the almost whole month it took me to read it.
