In the story, Her Evil Twin by Mimi Coy, Anna Diplao ( the main character) wishes for nothing more than to be cool, to be noticed fashion wise and to be fearless. Anna then makes a new friend, Emma Diablo who is fearless, effortlessly fashionable, and always ready for an adventure. At first it seems that Emma is doing nothing but bringing Anna out of her shell. The two girls have fun doing each others hair, going to the Cinaplex, n getting back at Anna's enemies dubbed 'the Jackals'.But Emma is just as her last name depicts her to be. She ditches classes, sneaks off campus during lunch, and "borrows" spray paint. Before long Emma's actions start to take a sinister turn. Writing mocking messages on the lawns of Anna's old friends and pushing a boy, who Anna seems to like, out a window, and stealing another girl's wallet. The girls look so much a like that the incidents are pinned on Anna. No one believes Anna when she pleads innocent since no one besides her has ever laid eyes on Emma. This leads Anna to conclude the impossible possibility that her mirror-image best friend might be her evil twin. Later in the book, the author adds a twist when Anna's mom reveals that Anna used to have an imaginary friend named Emma with whom she would always cause trouble with. I believe that the characters in the story are believable because of their actions. Ditching classes, sneaking off campus, and stealing a girl's wallet are all examples of how the characters seem real. I really enjoy the mystery that the author has included in this book. I would recommend this book to those who love the suspense and mystery in stories.

Like the other book, Curiosity Killed the Cat, this was a favorite of mine and I know, these books are for little kids. But, I want to read short books and this is the way to do it. But who cares what I read, right? As long as it’s fun for you to read, that’s all that matter. I enjoy these books since I’ve read books like these as a kid and when I don’t feel like reading the books I am now and I want something that will only take me a day or two, I choose to read these so then I can also reach my goal haha. But these are short, fun reads. I’m probably go around reading the other books like this just for a few light reads.

Summary:
“Her Evil Twin” by Mimi McCoy. This book is about a girl named Anna. Anna and her friend Dory have a disagreement.. Then Emma Diablo steps in. When Anna is having friend issues, Emma comes in and shows her a new way to live. Emma gets Anna to do things that she would never had done in the first place, like going off school grounds to eat lunch and play. As the difficult times at school mess with Annas head, she needs to find out what's making her crazy. She faces stress. She has gotten grounded, band, and unfriended by many. How can she fix everything?

“Her Evil Twin” by Mimi McCoy was a very intense, fun, mysterious novel. This book is great for the dialogue. The way the characters talk. In the book after Anna and Emma meet, their conversations become very interesting, “I’ve never done that before” Anna admitted “I’ve never had the nerve.” “Stick with me” Emma said “You’ll be surprised what you can do.” Another conversation they had was, “You know I keep feeling like I’ve met you somewhere before,” Anna said. “isn’t that funny? What’s your last name?” “Diablo,” Emma replied. “Cause I’m devilish. You’d better watch out.” This book has a good point of view too, it’s told in third person. The person that is telling the story, is telling it over Anna, example: “Anna shook her head, realizing how foolish she appeared. How could she not have known where her best friend lived? And why hadn’t it ever occurred to her to ask?” The theme of the story is easier to figure out towards the late, middle part of the book. The theme can be different. Like, its about friendship, trust, or even likeness. It could be friendship because, “I said, if you want I can go with you. To meet Jessamyn after school today,” Dory replied. “Oh” Anna hesitated. Jessamyn’s note didn’t say anything about bring a friend. But she and Dory always did everything together.”
I give this book a five out of five stars, for being a great read. I would recommend this for girls ages 10 and up.

Anna had accidentally called in her imaginary friend Emma from her childhood when using a chant in a mirror. The next day after Anna almost getting sick in class runs into the hallway to take a breather. Then, like magic, Emma appears. Anna not remember who she was, thought she was a new student at first. But nothing good came from Emma. Emma got Anna to go off grounds for lunch, going to the roof of the school. Nothing good. But, it got worse. It came to Emma hurting two of Anna’s friends. Dory (Anna’s childhood friend) had her lawn say “Dorky Dory” Across it in spray paint. Anna’s mom got the call saying it was Anna who did it. Next, Benny. Benny didn’t come into school and Anna got worried. After she went to see if he was okay, he blames her for causing him to fall out his window. Causing some of his bones to break. After Anna is blamed for this monstrosity. Emma and Anna go out to lunch. And Emma offers to pay. Later, back at school, Anna gets called to the Dean’s office. Which Anna says that you only get called there for trouble. After Arriving in the office. Anna was accused for stealing one of the popular girls wallet, Jayssmen. The Dean ask to check her locker and when they do, they same pink wallet that Emma had when they went to lunch. Later after a lot of trouble and drama, Anna thinks horribly of Emma. Later she goes to the wall that Emma and Anna sprayed their names on the wall. Sure enough, Emma was there. One thing led to another, and Anna ran away from Emma. After being grounded from her parents. She knew that Dory was in danger. Anna thinks that Emma will do what she’ll have to do in order to make Anna her only best friend. So, Anna getting on a costume for the school dance that she was banned from going to, was going to go and find Dory before she gets hurt. Anna looks for Dory at the dance. As she sees some wearing the same jacket as Dory going into the old girls bathroom that supposedly started the whole thing in the first place. But when she gets in there, no one is there. Then Jayssmen and her crew come in and are ready to beat up Anna before Emma comes out of the Mirror trying to take Anna with her. But Dory comes in and pulls Anna out of her reach. And in the end, Dory and Anna become friends again, and Benny apologizes to Anna for what had happen to him. Because he thought he blamed Anna because he thought that because of the fall that he saw something totally different but he didn’t. To sum up. the book about a girl that gets a visit from her past and ruins Anna’s life from friends to school to her family. But she fights back and with the help of her best friend, she defeats the girl from Anna’s past and they become friends and things slowly turn back to normal for Anna.

This book has an engaging story. This book has a compelling moral i.e, "Never make evil of anybody ..., It hurts you too". At the beginning of the story, we don't know why Anna was glanced up in classroom ? Nothing is as it seems arouse in this book, "A POISON APPLE". In school Anna has a best friend named Dory. She is very nice and innocent girl, but a strange event occur in the story, Anna met a new a best friend named Emma . Emma is a fashionable and adventurous girl , She always want to do new thing and have fun . Anna is everything to do fearless. Emma is also a kind of trouble maker Girl , she doesn't like that Anna has any other friend thats'y she broke the Anna and Dory's friendship. She always want to steak off Ground at lunch. Anna seems to get caught, but Enna never. When Emma is going to take an adventure, she take a sinister turn. Anna get worried. The question arise here, Is Emma a dangerous evil twin of Anna ?..

I did not enjoy this one. The mythology is a bit muddled, which normally I'd pardon if not for all my other complaints about the book. (The "evil twin" in question is a trouble-making/vengeful doppelganger but not a death omen, an imaginary friend made corporeal, and a creature from the other side of an old mirror. Pick a lane?)
The main character is deeply unsympathetic; she only has one friend, and it's clear why. She's a fairly mean little girl who abandons her not-good-enough, dorky friend who doesn't "get" middle school at the first opportunity, and she only really seems to learn her lesson after her dorky friend saves her life. People shouldn't have to save your life for you to treat them nicely?
The conflict of the story--that being the relationship between the main character and her "evil twin"--is a little too real compared to what I think is appropriate for this grade level, honestly. As a damn near spot-on representation of an abusive relationship (albeit a platonic, non-familial one), it was pretty distressing to read. Like with the muddled mythology, this is something I could've overlooked in a book that didn't make so many stumbles; as it is, it just all came together for a rather unpleasant reading experience.
But the part that honestly almost made me put the book down was the genuinely offensive misappropriation of psychology to try to raise the stakes of the book. It's abusive and ableist and fucking gross, and I'll just set up the circumstances quickly before plunking in the offending excerpt:
At this point in the story, the main character, Anna, has gotten in trouble with her school's dean over things that her friend, Emma, did. Since Emma isn't actually a student, everyone thinks Anna did it and is making up an elaborate lie about another person to avoid trouble. (Emma also explicitly arranged this to try to isolate Anna such that Anna will have no choice but to be her friend and hers alone, which is a very authentic and truly terrifying tactic of real-world abusers.) The school then calls Anna's mother, and we get this lovely bit:
ME NEITHER, ANNA.
What the actual fuck was Mimi McCoy thinking, writing that? What the fuck were her editors thinking when they failed to get rid of it? What the fuck were her publishers thinking, letting that shit go into a book marketed toward little girls?
This little girl supposedly stole something from the school bully, and so she clearly has a conduct disorder, is on the road to expulsion, and will grow up to be a sociopath? What the fuck is wrong with Mimi McCoy?
My fucking head is spinning. I'm legit furious.
The rest of this book could've been fucking golden, and I honestly would've probably fucking hated it just for that bit another. "Mom and dad don't believe me" is a valid worry for a children's book; "mom and dad think I have a diagnosable and untreatable mental illness" is fucking not, and this is a truly offensive portrayal of how mental health and behavioral issues in children should be handled/treated in the first place.
Don't give this shit to your kids.

Have you've ever done a dare just to become popular? And betry your best friend for someone better? Well that happend to Anna.The genre for this book is realistic fiction and fantasy because this can happen to a school girl and I'm not sure if a ghost comming out from a mirror is real or not. I liked this book since i havent read it since 3rd grade and I'm happy I got to reread it.
The setting of the story is in a school since Anna is having most of her problems in school time with sometimes they switch of to her house. Anna and her friend Dory both wanted to be popular so they did a dare these girls told them to do but the dare had only ment to be for Anna not Dory so then Anna did it by herself and a person came out of the mirror and soon she made a new friend who seems to knows Anna well and they soon became friends Anna didnt know that her "new friend" came from another world is her twin but from a diffrent world so then Anna fought with her "evil" twin then aftr all that Anna and Dory became friends again and her twin back to were she belongs.The conflict for this story is person vs. person since Anna had to fight with her twin.Anna who is the main character of the story and Emma is her twin and Dory is her best friend.
I wish that the book would have like a dramatic part of the book like the climax like maybe when Anna was sending her twin back to the other world maybe the twin would grab her by the leg or arm and pull her to the other world.The structure of this book was cool I liked the cover of the book to show how Anna her twin would look like and you can visual how they would look in the problem.I was surprised when Anna would betry Dory she could've at least invited her to the things that Anna and Emma did.The characters Anna and Emma are different because Emma even thought she acts like Anna and they like the same things they have totally different personalities.The character changed when Emma and Anna started to hang out and Anna started to turn bad.

I've read this one in french just to improve my language and I ended up loving it ! It's so good ! I haven't gave 4 stars for any book I've read lately so I'm really surprised with my rating for this one ! I enjoyed the story the short chapters and even the translation was good " a little appreciate for the translator cuz not all the translator can make you feel that the book was originally written in this language even if it wasn't ! " I will definitely read another book from the series , it's a perfect gift if you have any little siblings and it also so easy to read if you want to improve your language" English or French " , if you're reading my review to decide if you will read the book or not I'm telling run and Read it without any hesitation!

Appropriate for the age it’s intended for but sure it might be childish and corny when you reread it and you’re older but it’s still a well written story and enjoyable.

A-ma-zing. Mind blowing!!! Back in the good old days of 5th grade, my best friend started reading the Poison Apple Books and recommended them to me. I read one and feel in love! Then we started reading the following books together, kind of like a secret book club. And it was amazing! I’d read them every night (bad idea) and wouldn’t be able to sleep. Very dumb, but it’s like a nice memory I have, sitting in my bed and peeking inside my closet for ghosts. Hahahahha. My best friend and I ended up going our separate ways (long story involving betrayal, selfishness and popularity), but reading these books is the one thing both of us still remember and treasure.

I absolutely LOVED this book when I was younger, but had to re-read for a class and I don't know what I was thinking. Mimi McCoy is an amazing writer, but this book is just not for me the second time around at least. The main character, Anna, is awful. She's so rude to her best friend and ends up abandoning her. Emma was even more enjoyable in my opinion. This book has an interesting plot and does hold your attention and the ending was interesting but I just did not like this book. I found the characters very annoying.

I know that the Candy/Rotten/Poison Apple books are written by different authors, but this reminded me too much of Miss Fortune in how both feature protagonists where everything gets worse and worse and worse until they finally figure out how to break the curse. The aspect was interesting, but I really did not care about Anna as a character at all.

MY CHILDHOOD!!!!!!!!!!
This is literally the series that I spent hours on end reading when I was in my early elementary years. Her evil twin was the first book I read from the poison apple series; it got me into reading even while all the other children's books bored me. I recommend this series to anyone. Hell, I'm probably going to reread it just for the nostalgia.

Anna Dipalo is a lonely girl that just wants to be cool.Sure, she does have friends, but Dory Welch is not your definition of cool. But when the Jackals trick her, she meets someone who’s just like her, or is she imagining her? This book is perfect for ages 7 up, but if you are a scaredy-cat then I’m warning you, don’t read this book…

This was a reread for me; I read this back when I was younger. Even rereading it, I can confidently say that this is probably the strangest middle-grade book I’ve ever read. Throughout the story, you’re constantly wondering if this mysterious Emma girl is all in Anna’s head or if she’s actually a ghost that’s haunting her. The beginning of chapter 9 used to give me nightmares, and it still is really unsettling for a children’s book. Very intriguing, very bizarre, but overall an interesting read.

In being completely honest, I was going to throw this book across the room if I saw the word "cool" one more time. However, I will say that I was intrigued to find out the ending, but the ending was not really explained. I wish the ending was more detailed and more defined.
