The final installment in the Skye O'Malley Legacy series went out with a whimper and not a bang. I looked forward to a last hurrah of Skye's descendants, great-great granddaughters in this case, but had to settle for cardboard cut-out characters with little to no depth and with whom it was near impossible to feel any real connection. The use of sobriquets bordered on the absurd (male twins known as Damn and Darling? Nauseating.), the cookie cutter protagonists (the mysterious one, the sweet one, the headstrong one), and Small's decision to break each cousin's story into separate sections in the book (a puzzling choice that led to much repetition) left me longing for the earlier titles in the series which were filled with richly drawn characters, action, adventure, and excitement. This is one series that unfortunately limped across the finish line.
I am a big fan of Bertrice Small however this is probably the first book that I was dissapointed with. I think that in order to close the Skye O'Malley saga she did it rushed and this is how this book felt to me. The characters were forgetable and boring. I did not finish the third story. It's a let down because all of the O'Malley saga was an excellent series I wish it would have ended better but I'll stick to her other O'Malley books instead.
I enjoyed this book and the entire series. I wasn’t thrilled about the trilogy but the author weaved the stories well enough that in the end I was satisfied.
This book was as good as I had hoped but then I didn't expect anything less. This was the last book in the Skye's Legacy series which is the spin-off of the O'Malley Saga. I loved that this final book was divided into 3 sections basically. Each section was devoted to one of Skye's remaining great great granddaughters. Three of them were at the age to get married at the same time. Each of these ladies had their own personalities and strengths but yet each of them shared similarities with their grandmother and great great grandmother. Fiercely independent women not willing to settle for anything other than love and happiness. I loved how the entire family gathered at Malvern's Corner at the end to celebrate Jasmine's (Skye's granddaughter) 80th birthday at the end of this final book.
A gentle ending to a wonderful, exciting series. Too gentle really, after all the previous books with such suspense, erotic excitement, joy, and wonder. Well written though. It all had to end at some point, and why not gently after so much other.
I read this book awhile ago and of course loved it! The story of three young ladies. I just finished listening to this book on Audible and it was narrated by a favorite narrator Justine Eyre. I always loved reading this book and then listening to them. Definitely recommend this book!
