I used to watch the show about the magic school bus. The best part was seeing how she would dress. I loved the earrings she would wear. This book is make believe where the setting is in the another dimension. I like how they explain it to the reader in terms they can understand. A school bus or child could never get reduced down into a disk and put into a computer. The book explains the parts of a computer. What makes it enjoyable for a child is the unrealistic adventures they have. What makes it nice for the reader is the facts that they are teaching to the children.

We love the magic school bus series of books, they are very educational!

Floppy disks and those big Macintosh computers. LOL Some points are fairly valid but most of it is outdated. It's a good throw back though to when turning on the computer woke up the whole house.

My generic review of the Magic School Bus books -

We really love the series. This book doesn't have all the cartoony dialouge asides that the earlier books have. There are maybe a comment or two per page instead of full conversations. Some people hate that; I think I prefer it. The page is less busy.

These books clearly explain a certain topic. There are often additional activities at the end of the book for further learning.

We read these for 'fun' during picture book time and we read them when learning about a certain subject.

Most of the books have movies which correspond. We've enjoyed those as well.

An interesting, though wildly outdated book on computers. Although the illustrations are obviously out of synch with today's technology, some of the basics in the narrative are still fairly valid. I had to explain about floppy disks, though, since our girls had never seen one! Still, another fun adventure with the Friz... We really like the books in the Magic School Bus TV tie-in series.

[Little Miss and the Legomeister]

I love the Magic School Bus books. I've read quite a few over the years. Legomeister loved them a couple of years ago. He still checks them out sometimes, but he doesn't ask me to read them to him anymore. Now it's Little Miss who requests them.



Wow.Technology gets dated pretty quickly. The Magic School Bus kids learn about floppy disks. Hehe.

Great lieterature book and it helps children examine computer hardware and software. This book is great for introducing elementary school students to complex machines. Since computers deal with technology, I owuld allow the children hands-on experience with computers and also allow them to do activies on the website: http://www.scholastic.com/magicschool...
